There will be lots more to smile about Saturday when Ontario’s largest Credit Union presents May 15th’s Salute to the Troops Night as Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series action returns to Merrittville Speedway.
Original Pizza Logs DIRTcar Sportsman Rookie Driver Adam Leslie’s car will be on display prior to race time in the grandstand area. Similar to last year’s salute to Canada’s fallen heroes – Leslie’s 2010 car celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the Canadian Navy.
Bring the Navy to Canadians events will be focused to honour the past, to showcase the current navy and to reinforce the requirement for the future navy. While the up and coming driver has taken on the tribute on his own – race fans can look forward to a group of naval warships that will visit Toronto during the Canadian National Exhibition. Port visits are planned for both coasts and in the St. Lawrence and Great Lakes.
“The centennial is quite a milestone both for our navy and nation’s history,” relates (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell, “a salute to Adam for his efforts … and kudos to the weatherman for the favorable forecast once again – Saturday Night is Speedway Night!”

Returning to action also in the Meridian Credit Union presentation honoring all branches of the Canadian Forces will be the L. St. Amand Enterprises DIRTcar 358 Modifieds, Hoosier Stocks, J&S Heating and Air Conditioning Modified Lites and the Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinders.
“Last week’s major storm sure put a damper on the spectacular racing we’ve enjoyed so far this season,” prided Bicknell, “through all divisions … race fans surely have been witness to some exciting action!”
