PIT BOX: Pinty’s Series Set For Green Flag On 2020 At Sunset

The prolonged offseason is over and the NASCAR Pinty’s Series drivers will be back racing at Ontario’s Sunset Speedway for the first time since 2016.
With everybody itching to get back behind the wheel, the two 125-lap races are sure to be all-out battles for the checkered flags.
It’s a new season and a fresh start for many.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
Many familiar faces will be returning for the opening weekend. Alex Tagliani, the winner in both of the Pinty’s Series previous races at Sunset (2015 and 2016), won’t be one of them. The Quebec driver will be at Daytona International Speedway for the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series race. Taking his place will be a familiar name: 16-year-old Treyten Lapcevich, younger brother of 2016 series champion Cayden Lapcevich.
SunsetWhen we last saw Brett Taylor, he was celebrating his first career win in the 2019 finale at Jukasa Motor Speedway. He’ll look to make it two in a row, while his teammate Jason Hathaway will look to improve one position on his 2015 second-place run at Sunset as well as his runner-up finish to Taylor to end last year.
Donald Theetge, who finished the year on the podium at Jukasa in the No. 24, has moved over to the No. 80 Chevrolet/Buick/GMC/Cadillac Camaro with Wight Motorsports Inc., while two-time series champion LP Dumoulin is back in his classic No. 47 WeatherTech/Bellemare Dodge
Kevin Lacroix, the series’ runner-up in two of the last three seasons, will be back in his familiar No. 74 Bumper to Bumper/Total/PFC Brakes/Lacroix Tuning Dodge.

CREW CHIEF HANDOUT: The starting field for the SUNSET 125 RACE 1 is limited to 20, including provisional positions. The field will be set by random draw (1-17) for the SUNSET 125 RACE 1 based on 2019 owner’s points. The remaining three spots will be awarded through the provisional process. The starting field for the SUNSET 125 RACE 2 is limited to 20, including provisional positions. The field will be set by random draw (1-17) for the SUNSET 125 RACE 2 based on finishing position of race 1. The remaining three spots will be awarded through the provisional process. This event will be run under the 2020 NASCAR Pinty’s Series rules, procedures, regulations and specifications.
QUALIFYING: No qualifying.
RACE PIT STOP: No planned race pit stops during the races.
SUNSET 125 RACES 1 & 2 will be 125 laps (41.66 miles), per race. There will be a time allotment of 30 minutes after the completion of race one (1) to prepare for race two (2).
The maximum tire allotment available for these races is as follows: a total of four (4) tires will be allowed for each race. If purchasing additional tires for the races, there is a maximum of two (2) left and two (2) right-side tires allowed per race. Tires from previous NASCAR Pinty’s Series events may be used for the twin races at Sunset Speedway.
