10th in Midas of Orangeville OSCAAR Midget Points – Wayne McKibbon

In a season filled with learning and hardships, it’s perseverance that pays off for Wayne McKibbon en route to a solid season. The Midas of Orangeville OSCAAR Midget rookie ran 11 of the 13 races this season en route to a 10th place finish in points.

In a series that saw 20 to 30 drivers on a weekly basis, McKibbon is only one of two rookies to crack the top-10 in points this season, joined by series champion Jody Bound.

For McKibbon, the season started off with a 13th place finish in his series debut at Peterborough Speedway. He would then follow that up with a 15th place finish at Sunset Speedway.

The beginning of July was certainly rough for the rookie as he would finish 21st at Full Throttle Motor Speedway, followed not qualifying for the main event at Sunset. Though continuing to learn his No. 71 BW Towing and Auto Midget paid off as a return trip to Peterborough saw McKibbon finished 14th.

Arguably, the summer was the best part of the season for McKibbon as he found the majority of his success. Following Peterborough, he would finish 13th at Sauble Speedway, followed by a 16th in his return to Peterborough.

He would then head to Grand Bend, having his best run of the season, finishing eighth for his first career top-10.

As the series transitioned to September, things would fall off a little with a 15th at Flamboro Speedway and a 16th at Full Throttle Motor Speedway. McKibbon didn’t let that get him down, though, as he would finish 10th at Sunset Speedway in late September.

The Orangeville, Ontario native would then conclude his season with a 17th place finish at Peterborough.

With the success through the season, McKibbon has proven that he will be a driver to watch on the OSCAAR tour in the years to come.
