12TH Annual Atlantic Stock Car Championships this Weekend
This Saturday and Sunday the CENTRE for Speed hosts the 12th Annual Atlantic Stock Car Championships. A field of 32 Sportsman from all over the Maritimes and Newfoundland and 23 Pro Stocks are registered. On Saturday the program gets under way at 1 PM with the Bandolero, Mini Stock, and Mini Cup Championship racing with the big feature of the day being the Vance Hanes Sportsman 100. On Sunday, its the Pro Stock 150 including defending 2011 Atlantic Champ Greg Proude of PEI, plus other top competitors such as Halifax's John Flemming, and Islanders Jonathan Hicken, Darren MacKinnon and may other top Pros. Notable fro this years Pro Stocv Championship is the return of one of the regions best Pro Stock Drivers in Lonnie Sommerville. A full field of Street Stock competitors are expected from throughout the Maritimes for Sunday as well as Four Cylinders to round our the cards. Racing starts at 1 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend features returning Champions in all of last years Divisions in addition to most of the best racers in the Maritimes. Front gates open at 11am both days. Pit gate times vary. Saturdays admissions are Adults $20, Child $10 (9-15), Family (2+2) $45, Seniors $15 (65+), Pit Pass +$10. Sunday Admission is Adults $25, Child $15 (9 - 15), Family (2+2) $75, Seniors $20 (65+), Pit Pass + 10. Children 8 and under are free.
