Maritime Super Series Champs Announced

Oct 2, 2012 - CFS is pleased to annouce the Maritme Super Series of Stock Car Racing Champions for the 2012 season.  After some contraversy the CENTRE for Speed is please to confirm that John Rankin was confirmed as the Sportsman Super Series Champ for 2012.  Rankin who came into contact with track rookie John Betteridge Jr early in the stages of the Double Header event here on Sept 15th was thought to be out of the running despit his strong showing in the first event.  However heat points and series rules on minimum points for competitors managed to hold off Johns hard charging Cousin, Calvin Rankin who, despit winning both the final events came in third in the series after missing the first race date.  The #22 of Claude Gaudet, piloted by his hard driving son, Remi came in second overall.  In Mini Stock action it was Rookie pilot Dustin Phillips from Salisbury who took top honours and, in Street Stock rookie, Justin MacDonald in his #77, from Springhill who snared the Championships in his division. 

This weekend sees the running of the 12th Annual Atlantic Stock Car Championships at the CENTRE begining with the Early Arrival Practice and Pit Party on Friday at 3. A large field of Sportsman from all over the Maritimes are registered as well as a full field of Street Stocks and 20 Pro Stocks includng defending 2011 Champ Greg Proud, Jonathan Hicken, Lonnie Sommerville, John Flemming and many more top competitors.  The event has been the best attended stock car race for competitors in the Maritimes for 11 of the last 12 years.  Racing starts at 1 pm on Saturday and Sunday.  For more information, registered entries. prices, etc see www.centreforspeed.com
