Ladouceur Has Mixed Results At Mohawk Race Parts Series Events

Entering this past weekend, Joey Ladouceur had a solid a solid 33-point lead in the Mohawk Race Parts Pro Stock Series. Two Series events were on the schedule this weekend, with a visit to the province of Quebec, and Autodrome Granby and Autodrome Drummond on Friday and Saturday night respectively. A regular race night at Cornwall was also scheduled on Sunday.
The weekend began with a trip to Autodrome Granby on Friday night. Ladouceur began the night at Granby by posting the fastest overall time in the pre race hot lap session, and backed that up with a solid top five effort in time trials, and second fastest in his time trial group. Ladouceur picked up the win in his qualifying heat, battling three cars wide at the finish. He crossed the line with a flat left rear tire. The win placed Ladouceur into the redraw for the Pro Stock main event. He would go on to draw the sixth place starting position.
Ladouceur fought for the lead early in the 50-lap event, and after a quick pit stop for a cut left front tire after making contact with the inside wall, he drove his Coffrage 20-20 Racing, Mr. Radiator Auto Service, Fence Depot, Fastline Performance, Glengarry Truck Centre. Minimax Transportation, and PM Promotions, Stinger X Chassis back up through the stellar 28-car Pro Stock field. At the finish, Ladouceur scored a third place finish.
“We had a great car, but after a little contact with the inside wall, we had to make a pit stop. I did everything I could to get up to the front, but we just ran out of time”, commented Ladouceur after the race. “We will move on to Drummond tomorrow night and hope for better results”.
With a win at Autodrome Drummond earlier this season, Ladouceur was confident about his chances entering the night. Once again, a 50 lap main event was on tap for the Mohawk Race Parts Pro Stock Series. Ladouceur began the night by once again setting fast time in the pre race warm up session. With the changing track conditions between the warm ups and practice, Ladouceur struggled a bit in time trials, posting the sixth fastest time in his group. In his qualifying heat race, Ladouceur started sixth, and moved his way up to fifth, again earning the much needed spot in the redraw for the Pro Stock Main event.
At the redraw, Ladouceur drew the pole position, placing him on the inside of the front row for the feature. When the race started, Ladouceur dropped back to fifth early, but contact with another car sent Ladouceur to the pits for repairs. Just like the previous night at Granby, Ladouceur was forced to work his way through the field, and at the checkered flag, he was up to ninth place.
“We struggled right off the start, dropping from first to fifth, but the contact with the 33 car really messed us up. We had to come in and pit, and make some repairs. We finished the weekend with a pair of top tens, but we lost quite a few points to Ghislain (Valade) in the battle for the championship”, says Ladouceur on his run at Autodrome Drummond.
Cornwall Speedway was set to conclude the weekend for Joey Ladouceur and his Alexandria, Ontario team. Mother Nature had other plans, as early afternoon rains forced Cornwall officials to cancel the evening’s program.
“It had been a hectic weekend so far, so we will take it”, says Ladouceur after hearing the news of Cornwall being canceled. “Its not like we want to have a rainout at all, but if we had to have one, this was a good time to have it, so we can get things fixed up from Saturday night at Drummond”.
This coming weekend, Ladouceur will be back at Cornwall on Sunday for a regular night of racing, looking to increase his point lead in the chase for the Cornwall Speedway track championship.
