Whitteker Gets Top Five in First Ever Race at Mohawk Raceway

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design

September 7, 2010

With the racing done for the season at Autodrome Edelweiss, Whitteker’s usual Friday night home in 2010, the team looked to travel to a new track (Mohawk Raceway), in preparation for the September 17th 358 Modified series event.  On Sunday, Cornwall hosted their final race of 2010, which was their own Mr. DIRTcar 358 Modified 100 lap race.

The first ever trip to Mohawk Raceway was a good one for Whitteker as he started the 30-lap feature from deep in the field, and moved up to 4th by the checkered flag.  His Rust Check, Coldwell Banker, Steve Summers Coburn Realty, Jim’s Performance Plus, Parcoll Products/Napa Auto Parts, Quaker State, Riverside Pontiac, Toy Storage, Wells and Son Construction, ERD Engine Research and Development, and Finish Line Web Design sponsored Bicknell car was fast, and the strong run leaves the team excited for the Mr. DIRTcar series race next week.

“This is such a beautiful facility, and we look forward to coming back for the Series race on the 17th”, say Whitteker.  “Other then having a discrepancy with the scoring at the finish, everything else is great”.

On Sunday night at Cornwall Whitteker struggled early, finishing seventh in the qualifying heat, and had to run the consolation race to make the 100 lap main event.  Luke finished second in the ‘consi’ and took the 24th starting spot for the Jiffy Auto Service 100 lap event.  Luke moved up quickly, challenging for a top ten spot before getting hooked together with another car with just 20 laps remaining.  This brought out the caution, sending Luke to the rear of the field.  Whitteker battled back up to 16th at the checkered flag.

“We had a good run going, but unfortunately we got hooked together with the 46 and had to start from the back”, says Whitteker.  “We were hoping for a top ten finish, but we will bounce back, and look for better results next weekend”.

This coming weekend, Whitteker has a pair of events scheduled in Quebec.  First, it’s a $10,000 to win 150-lap race at Autodrome Granby, in Granby, Quebec, then they travel to Drummondville, Quebec for a 160 lap event paying $10,000 to win as well.
