Steve Poirier wins the Patriot Sprint Tour at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, July 19, 2015 – Martin Bélanger – The Patriot Sprint Tour was on hand tonight for their first of two visits of the season at Cornwall along with a complete program for all divisions as the Mini-Stock had the night off on Rutters Elevators.

The Patriot Sprint Tour were the first on the speedway for their 25-lap event. Steve Poirier took the lead over Glen Styres. The first 6 laps went quickly has Etienne Girard brought the field together. Poirier in control on the green flag as Styres and Mitch Brown are behind the 28FM. April Wilson stopped in turn 4. On the restart, Steve Poirier quickly got into lap traffic. The leaders raced together as Poirier made no errors to collect the win in front of Lee Ladouceur and Styres completed the top 3.

David Papineau took the lead in the 30-lap Bandit Motorsports Modified feature in front of Lance Willix and Lee Ladouceur. Making a return after a 2-week absence, Chris Raabe quickly moved up to fourth. Mario Clair brought a caution on lap 12. On the restart, several changes in front at Lee Ladouceur took the lead on lap 14 with Raabe moving up to second. Ladouceur led the final laps to win his first feature of the season in front of Raabe and Stephane Lafrance keeps third.

In the 20-lap Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock feature, Kevin Fetterly took the lead and led for the first nine laps until Stephane Lebrun surprise Fetterly. Lebrun never looked back and grabbed a second win this season in Cornwall in front of Fetterly and CD Beauchamp.

The 25-lap Wheeler-Forget Royal Lepage Sportsman was the last feature of the evening as Mike Stacey took the lead in front of Tristan Draper. Stacey was able to hold off Draper as caution came on lap 10. Draper took the lead front the high lane over Stacey as Jessica Power running in third. Power made a move and took second as Ryan Stabler was now in third. Caution came on lap 20 as Draper remained in front of Power and Corey Wheeler joining the lead pack. Draper led the final laps and won his first win in Cornwall over Wheeler who made a late pass as Jessica Power completed the top 3.

Adam Delormier led wire to wire in the 15-lap Polar Sound DJ Service caution free feature as he captured his fourth feature win of the season in front of Mathieu Aubin and Derek Cryderman completed the podium.


The Ultimate Pro-Stock Series will highlight the schedule with a twin 25 feature for them along with a Canada-Usa Lightning Sprint Challenge and a complete race program as the Semi-Pro division having a night off.
