Dirt Drver Rankings
« on: September 09, 2008, 01:50:33 PM »
I can seea lot of people are mentioning in SpencerLewis's blog they wanted Dirt Drivers in it but as explained in the blog it is a asohalt ranking. I know a lot of members really follow dirt and we are trying to focus more on dirt as you will see with the releases posted here.

If someone wants to start a Dirt Driver rankings I think it is a great idea I just don't know enough about dirt racing or have the time to do this.

Thanks

I think dirt and asphalt both have their place, and deserve equal coverage...Some of the drivers on the asphalt list also race on dirt, including Dave Bailey, who has raced in the Thunder Stock division on Friday nights at Ohsweken all season.

My point was simply that if you're going to call it a short track power ranking, then there should be some dirt drivers on there as well.

but in the magazine in which they are published, as well as on this website (aside from this month) i've titled them asphalt power rankings.

Making it clear they are only covering asphalt drivers racing on asphalt

so i see no problem in calling it the Ontario Asphalt Short Track Power Rankings

If you can't figure out its ashpalt ranking after you see ALL the drivers race on ashalt, then your problem most likely is you can't read.

Hey, maybe cause it says ashpalt rankings we should be including go-cart racers and "short" road course. Maybe the 1/8 mile drags too, after all thats "short" of the 1/4 mile and on "ashpalt". How about that Canadian Super Bikes too? Maybe some drifter clowns also? Oh yeah, the soap box racers too...

Get over it, Spencer SOMEHOW manages to keep ontop of 6+ divisions of cars at 10 tracks. Thats over 60 divisions of cars and well over 1,000 drivers...

Got a problem with his list, make your own. If you want you can even try and compare ashpalt racers to dirt racers, that never face each other on the same track. Should make for a very funny read.

Well, as a matter of fact, they DO face each other on the same track...Dave Bailey, Ron Larkin, Jr., Mark Thorne, Jim Sweers, Brandon Easey, Chris Van Dusen, Colin Court, Rodney Rutherford, Rob Hoskins, Rick Robinson, Mike Taylor, Erinn Bailey, Nick Roth, and Mark Czuba have all raced at both Flamboro and Ohsweken this year...some even in the same car.

Ok, lets try this again.. 90% of the guys on Spencer's list DO NOT RACE ON DIRT. Hence why most people understand its an asphalt list.. You are with me so far right???

Let me give you an example.. Willy Reyns doesn't race on dirt, so compairing him to (insert dirt drivers name here) who does race on dirt and only dirt, would be silly... Still with me here?

Now if a driver races on dirt and asphalt is irrelivant. If he's good enough on asphalt, then he will show up on this asphalt list, for his ablity on asphalt... See that pattern??

Its possible a driver could also play a mean tune on the bagpipes, along with racing on asphalt. His bagpiping ability will not help him on this asphalt list.. Tell me you get it...

TommySalami if its a list for dirt track go for it as there are a lot of good dirt drivers in the provice from Southern Ontario Sprints to Dirt Modifieds and the popular Dirt Late Models. As for the comment from Rossevans30.There are some drivers that do both. One driver that comes to mind is Kirk Hooker who runs his Late Model at Delaware on Fridays (finished 7th in points to Stve Robblee) then on Saturday he goes to South Buxton and races his Dirt Late Model (finished 8th in points behind points champion Andrew Reaume)Also some asphalt drivers have moved to dirt. This year Jay Doer who raced Late Model at Delaware moved over to a Dirt Modified this year and raced at Oshweken,Humberstone,Merrittville.A dirt track rankings list would be good to see.As for SpencerLewis your Asphalt Track Ranking is very well done. Keep up the good work.
