MOSPORT’S RACETOUR DISPLAY SPEEDS INTO OSHAWA’S FIVE POINTS MALL NEXT WEEK

BOWMANVILLE, ON (April 24, 2009) – The Canadian road racing and stock car seasons kick-off next month at Mosport International Raceway and Mosport Speedway, and to get Durham residents up to speed, Mosport’s bringing it’s popular RaceTour display to the Five Points Mall in Oshawa next week, Friday, May 1 to Sunday, May 3.
Located in the court in front of the A&P grocery store, the RaceTour display will feature several stock cars that are racing this year at Mosport Speedway. The Speedway is Canada’s fastest ½ mile paved oval and the only stock car track in the GTA. Also featured is a sleek, exotic American Le Mans Series prototype, representing the cars that will race at Mosport’s biggest event of the season, the Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport (Aug. 27-30).
Mosport Speedway drivers Jim Rossiter, Bill Northam, Phyllis Legge and Tiffany Taylor will be at the Mosport Race Tour display with their cars to meet fans on Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Fans can get autographs, meet some drivers and Mosport staff will be on hand to answer questions. Also, Mosport will be offering Five Points Mall Kids Club Members the opportunity to have their picture taken with the drivers and cars and receive a free copy, plus to purchase 2 for 1 Mosport Speedway adult tickets usable for the month of May.
There will be a draw to win tickets to Mosport Speedway, along with new season schedules and information for pick-up. Fans are welcome to bring their cameras and have their pictures taken with the cars on display.
Five Points Mall hosts monthly Kids’ Club events and activities during the last Saturday of the month at 11 am. Kids’ Club membership can be completed by filling out a registration card. Members will receive a quarterly Kids’ Club newsletter by mail outlining upcoming events. Most of the activities are suitable for kids ages 5–12. There is no cost to participate in the Kids’ Club. Info about joining the Kid’s Club is available at the Mall.
The green flag drops on Mosport Speedway’s Saturday Night Stock Car Racing season on May 16, while the pro road racing schedule starts with the Victoria Day SpeedFest weekend of racing, camping and fireworks, May 15-17 at the 4-km Mosport International Raceway.
The Five Points Mall is conveniently located at the southeast corner of Taunton & Ritson Roads in Oshawa with 70 stores and services including A&P, National Sports, Staples, Winners and Zellers. The mall is open Monday – Friday from 10 am to 9 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday from noon to 5 pm.
