KENNINGTON SHOWS CONSISTENCY IN CASTROL EDGE DODGE

August 26, 2018. DJ Kennington continued his season of strong and consistent performances in the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge during round number ten of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past Sunday at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park near Bowmanville, Ontario.  With a sixth place finish Kennington jumps into a tie for third position in the overall championship standings.

The weekend began some adversity during the Saturday afternoon practice session as Kennington heard something he didn’t like in the motor of the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge and elected to make a change.  “Certainly not the way we want to start the weekend but we made the switch and were looking forward to qualifying,” said Kennington. “Unfortunately rain washed it out”.

With no qualifying session the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge would start seventh as per the regulations of the NASCAR rulebook.

On the opening lap Kennington began moving forward and quickly had the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge into the top-five.  “I was pretty happy in the early going to gain some spots but the car was a little tight,” explained Kennington.

During scheduled pit stops the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team tried to make adjustments to help the driver as well as perform the scheduled maintenance.  Unfortunately the handling issues persisted. Kennington would use all his skills and wrestle the car home to a sixth place finish.  He is the only driver to finish in the top-ten in all events this season.

The driver however wasn’t completely satisfied.  “It’s a good result, we had a good points day and we always want that. It says a lot about this whole Castrol team and the hard work they do to have that level of consistency, they do a great job.  But I want to win one of these and we’re going to make it happen” he added.

With the sixth place finish Kennington moves into a tie for third in the overall championship standings with three races remaining.

The #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team is back in action on Saturday September 8that the Autodrome St. Eustache in St. Eustache, Quebec.

Of note: DJ Kennington also raced in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at CTMP on Sunday.  Kennington scored a 13thplace finish in the race in the #49 Truck.
