Blind to Race at CENTRE for Speed
Shediac, New Brunswick - Shediac's CENTRE for Speed Entertainment Park and the MIRA Foundation for the Blind are pleased to announce a charitable event partnership. The event will feature the blind racing in speedway prepared race cars in order to raise funds to help train "seeing eye" and "companion assist" dogs for those in need.
The event, which will be run at the CENTRE for Speed entertainment facility near Shediac on July 28th will see blind and visually impaired drivers compete, with the aid of sighed media and celebrity "co-pilots" who will guide their drivers to the finish line in the 10 lap stock car event. MIRA will receive funds from tickets sold for the event and from other fund raising activities such as a 50/50 draw on event day. The event is scheduled to be run on July 28th during one of the CENTRE's weekly stock car events. Tickets will be available in advance through MIRA with proceeds to the foundation by calling 506 852-9539.
Readers who have a vehicle which runs but is no longer in use can help to make the event a success by donating their vehicle for the event. Car donors will receive free tickets special recognition at the event. To donate a car or assist in their preparation for the event please call Tim at the CENTRE at 506 388-2145.
