Speedway regrets to announce the passing of famous Super Modified driver Harvey Lennox at age 85. Lennox was an incredibly successful competitor in the region throughout the 1950s and 1960s. He was famous for driving his signature vehicle, “Tammy 10”, and amassed an astounding 182 victories throughout his career. He claimed track championships at CNE Speedway (Toronto), Bridgeport Speedway (Kitchener), Nilestown Speedway (London), and Delaware Speedway. Lennox was inducted into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1995 and the London Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.
Delaware Speedway fans were privileged to pay tribute to Harvey Lennox at this season’s ISMA Super Modified event. Lennox was the honourary grand marshal for the race where fans cheered and applauded the legendary racer one last time during opening ceremonies.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 7:00-9:00 pm and Friday from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm at Westview Funeal Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Harvey are asked to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or a charity of your choice.
