Title: Sunset website is down.
Post by: xspot on May 09, 2009, 09:47:43 AM
The belief is that Sunset is in the works of being sold.

No someone forgot to renew it as the domain needed to be renewed today. So DOMAINS canada.ca suspended the domain name till it is paid. That is all. I have informed them they need to renew the domain name.

DOMAINS canada.ca are a bunch of crooks. 50.00 + GsT for a .ca and 30.00 + GST for late domain renewal.

If you are looking for cheap .ca domains netfirms.ca is 9.99

The belief is that Sunset is in the works of being sold.

Skidder,
I will have to tag along with your posse and join the Tommy club, have you got any spare t-shirts and hats. Where's Stompin' Tom racing other than Kawartha?
Brian

The hell with anoth nascar sanctioned track.  Ill stick with paying $18 to get in and $53.50 to register  instead of $27 and whatever higher cost it is to register at barrie.

I'm sure he'll post it on his website if not here on cro first when he finally makes that where to race decision. Now on that t shirt issue,i'm going to have to dig real deep in the pile to find one big enough to fit you,but i'm sure i'll be able to find you one that comes close.Just kidding with you Brian.

After speaking to Tom earlier this month,i'm sure that if in fact all of this is true about the track being sold and under new management that he will definately 100% be back to defend his late model championship at sunset speedway.

i dont care if this is a load of bs and it is all a lie. At least there is gossip about racing again. and you cant have gossip if there is no racing. racing leads to gossip as spooning leads to forking.

Just to set the record straight, the track has not been sold., but I do have two very good offers on it at this time.
As I have said before everything has a price, when I am offered the right price I will sell.
Still waiting for that right price!

Does the right price include one offered by developers???? You can't just throw that out there without saying whether you are entertaining any and all offers or only ones from those who want to keep the track going. It is of course yours to do with what you want but any rumors of offers from developers will do more to kill a track than anything else.

Hi all I would just like to set the record straight there are a lot of rumors flying around right now, what I can tell you is that my company Wide Open has been to several meetings over the last few weeks about taking over the track, as Wes has said nothing is done till all the T's are crossed, it is my believe that things will happen very shortly and when they do it will happen very quickly.
I will tell you that all of us at Wide Open are very excited and hope that things will  fall into place very soon.
I know that is not a lot of info but I will keep everyone in the loop as it comes about, I do know one thing that Sunset speedway will run a full season no matter what the out come is.
See you at the Track.

Well Mark I sure would like to know who you are talking to, I have NOT had any signed offers on my desk as of yet, just two different company's  throwing around a lot of numbers. If some one is interested tell them to send me a SIGNED offer and will look at it.

And also how on earth can you promises this.(that Sunset will run a full year regardless). It's not yours to promises!
As I said SHOW ME THE MONEY !!!!than there would have to be guarantees that my Staff would be employed as they are now. and paid the proper amount. That all contracts be honored!  Etc.

::)Yes I wonder why it is down, I see something about not being paid for, Hmmm.   Well I sure hope that the rumors are true"THAT IS HAS BEEN SOLD",. Because a lot of people will come to see a "BIG CHANGE" . Not only with attitude but performance also. It is just too bad when some people remove a message saying that Debbie the former score keeper was in hospital in a very serious condition.  Mark is a great guy, someone who will stop and listen before he speaks, and who will tell the truth and not ban people off the property. Some a temp Ban and some a permie ban.  If you do not know Mark and his company, meet him and he will bend over to help anyone.   8)

Tedibear. Yes Mark is a really nice guy and my daughter I think was maybe was 5 or 6 and he was nice to her at Nascar Park at Vaughan mall when she came up to get a poster from him. She is his #1 Fan.

We will have to wait a couple of days to see what unfolds.

Jeez Larue dont you have any empathy for the guy ?  How would you like to be over 70 years old and going bust ?  Having to liquidate the track less then a year after buying it at the top of the real estate market you don't need to have a gold Century 21 jacket in your closet to figure out he is taking a heck of a beating selling in the middle of a recession . Add to that the guy even had to put his house up for sale and i think you should cut him a little slack . Wes Good may have not have been much of a race track promotor but there is no need to kick him when hes down .

Eightball u are dead wrong.......good intentions but u are wrong.....i don't feel sorry for wes one bit....he made his bed time to lay in it.....he will be fine.....and remember the good people who were banned from the track last year for no good reason.  alot of sh*t has happenned over the last year to turn the track into a circus since wes took over.
look how many cars were in the pits at the end of last year compared to the end of 2007.  half the number of cars...look at how many staff are left, how many good people are gone.  we used to have the most cars in the province.  how many drivers pissed off and complaining or leaving????

Back to the website being down.  It has now been like 3 days.  How hard is it to call the supplier or whatever and say "ya, i would like to renew.  charge it to my credit card." and then they hang up, click on renew, and the site is back up and running?
Guess wes dont wanna spend the 50 bucks before he sells.

Wes said on another forum  he had two people interested in the property .... as we all know one is Mark Dilley and the other is the RBC bank office in Tottenham Ont who would repo it and lock it down . . . Anything you may purchase from someone that may or may not own the track in a few days may or may not be excepted by the new owners .

If its worth 57 bucks or whatever the price is for a registration so you can practice on Wednesday so be it , but get a receipt like Jason

Don't worry there will always be a spot for Wes at Sunset.

SUNSET SPEEDWAY NEEDS MATURE ADULTS IMMEDIATELY!
We need three people to help direct
incoming traffic into the parking lot.  Must work safely and wear safety vest (provided).  Must also be willing if needed to help out doing other assigned duties for the evening.

Have a nice day................

Hi Wes

I confirm that as of today, I have not received a signed offer to sell Sunset Speedway.  I have heard the rumours that Wide Open Motor Sports is taking over the operations of Sunset Speedway but I am not aware of any agreement permitting them to do so.

well back from hiatus mike smith is here to weigh in on the current events of sunset speedway...now from rumours/very reliable sources disclosing information to me id personally like to welcome mark dilley as the new management of sunset speedway and as for this magical letter received by Wes that he so graciously posted here for all of us to read and critique intricately it has come to my attention and others I'm sure that when you are a professional in whatever career you may be in with clients you do not refer to them using their first name especially in a salutation in an email it would read "to whom it may concern" or Mr. or Mrs. so and so or sir depending on the situation i believe that someone may possibly be trying to carry on as if nothing is happening when everyone seems to notice the inevitable but who am i to say...I'm just a mere peasant in this world of racing but i do believe when all is said and done someone will have egg on their face and i do not believe it will be mark dilley and i will be there to say "i told you so"...forgive the lateness of this reply to this post i apologize if this is somewhat old news but I've been on hiatus with work...but have returned :)

Cheers

my question is. if there is going to be new ownership at Sunset this year. Is the track still running the same schedule that has been posted with the 100 lappers for thunders and late models? also is there going to be a points championship as stated in the past there was apparently going to be no points, just money awarded. Thirdly are the purses that are posted on the site going to remain the same under new ownership? I could care less who owns it. Wes welcomed us with open arms last year to run a handful of races and we never had any problems with the staff. To add to that Mark Dilley did a great job at Barrie when he had some ownership there. So doesn't matter who is going to operate it, as long as there will be racing there this summer.

As far as I have told racing is the same and the schedule is the same so go racing and leave the other stuff to Wes and whom ever is looking in to buying the track.

The belief is that Sunset is in the works of being sold.

As usual Ann is always there with the rumors !! get out your check book Ann than you can enjoy all of the gossip.

looks like the new owners were at sunset last night.  I guess it wasn't a rumor after all. Cheers to the best thing that could have happened to Sunset in a long time.
