Drivers meeting
« on: January 08, 2013, 09:29:09 PM »
Varney will be having their drivers meeting Jan 13 starting at 1:00 with the four funs and 4 cylinders. Check the webbsite for start times on all the classes. There is also a late addition for outlaw modifieds which I assume are four cylinder mod. Maybe some kind soul could give directions to the curling club. The last time I drove around until I found it.

for the LM class kent said with 10 cars it pays  $ 1000 to win..they
allow the  ford 347... Probe offers a kit now that offers ..crank rod pistons rings and bearings for $ 900  dollars.. there is some  030 blocks on kijiji for 300 bucks now.. just put a main girdle on it..
run a stock HO roller cam with some GT heads and you will have a cheap .. relliable motor that will get around varney real nice..it wont
out power a bored 360 dodge but you will have money in your pocket to buy tires..

great size track for them, they are picking up a few cars a year and they are probably replacing the modifieds i'm thinking...the can/am race at flamboro was really good..some nice looking cars from the states got some peole interested...i think if they had info on how to build a car or cars for sale they would have even a few more..

I could be wrong but I believe that they are the pro 4 from flamboro and that they have a new hometrack. Again I could be wrong, just passing on the rumour.

For the most part the rumour is wrong. The pro 4 of flamboro does not have a new home track and as far as I know it's business as usual for the club, they did make some rule changes that "outlaw"ed some of the cars for 2013 and those cars along with some others will make Varney speedway their home in the newly formed Varney outlaw modified class which is intended to fill the gap from the missing all pro modified class. The Varney outlaw modified rules would allow a Flamboro pro 4 to run on a free night and most cars would fit the pro 4 rules at Flamboro.Hopefully some drivers will take this opportunity to run at both tracks.also the Varney Outlaw modified rules are in line with the pro 4 modifieds of New England rules.Watch for the "Border Wars" event again in 2013 with a combination of all 3 of these groups of cars.I hope this clears up some of the confusion.

crash, if you know of someone looking for a car as you mentioned there are some available to buy and i can send you in the right direction

I really liked this division about 20 years ago when they looked liked a 3/4 scale whelen tour type mod. I remember Dan Meservey towing up to Flamboro from Mass. and winning in one of the nicest looking cars I'd every seen. I'm not sure where or when the body rules went off the rails. Seems like they started like a shrunken late model, went to the traditional pavement mod style body, and then went to the topless wedges or even virtually bodyless like the one Nanticoke car. Hopely the success of the brothers from New England and their great looking cars might mean a return to modified style body and getting away from the flying door stops.

Thanks Biffisgreat. Who is the Varney tech person and how do I get in touch with him/her. I want them to maybe have a look at the car and let me know if I can run it in their SS division. Both fire walls have been fabed among a few other small things that may be questionable. Are you allowed to run new Hoosiers or used ones? Where do you get new 7" ones?. I read the Sauble rules as Varney dosn,t have theirs up yet but it looks like everything is stock, stock, stock except the engine. What about camber on the right front? Must let you have a bit or you,ll grind up alot of tires. Where do you register and get a transponder?
Thanks for your help   Pauly SS#22
