« on: July 29, 2009, 11:09:09 AM »
I am considering running the invitational this Sunday. What size track is Sauble? What final gear do I need to run?

Thanks

If its a quarter mile how is that bigger than barrie? Barrie is 1/3.  I dont mind picking up 1 or 200 hundred rpm but anymore and I will have to do gears.

Well that's really awesome you are considering running The Beach on Sunday Leonard..The one thing I wanted to point out to you though is this Sun is only an invitational for LLM and not Thunders or 4 bangers.. Its a regular point night for those classes I believe.. But to help somewhat you are allowed one "grace" night at Sauble so you can still race and run your Barrie tires and rules and dont have to register either I believe.. They do have an actual invitational/Dash for Cash Wed Aug 12th as well, that is a 40 lapper for Thunders and pays out pretty handsomely.. Dont know about gears at all but due to the track size its pretty similiar to the old Barrie track if that helps?? Sauble is a 1/4 mile oval..I'm sure SMOKIN JOE 00 will come on here later on today and answer your gear question for certain.. Hey JOE did you find out if the Thunders are actually running this Sunday for certain?? I know you said it doesnt show that on the website, but it does on the printed schedule..It would just suck if the Barrie Thunders come up then cant cant race.. Especially a guy like Leonard who would be making a 3 hour trek from Gravenhurst.. So can you also find that out from Jason for certain for us as well???

I think Joe meant to say its a little bigger than the old Barrie configuration ( as that's the one he raced on at our season ender in 2005) That what you meant JOE you old Owen Sound bushwacker you??LOL, its also much wider in the corners than the current Barrie track, and especially in turns 1&3..

Leonard

with the mustang i picked up 200 RPM....it's bigger but smaller..when u see it u will know what Joe means...corners are sweeping and very forgiving..u can really mash it and run it in deep. Fantastic track, super fun to drive.

I would say your Barrie gears would be fine Leonard just due to size of track and such as the two tracks are pretty similiar.. I know someone told Brent Stieler his Barrie gears would be fine for Sauble, so dont know really if a Thunder Car would be different than a 4 banger.. I'm sure Joe will come back and clarify later when he sees were still a bit confused.. Cause I was thinkin it was 2005-06 Joe ran Barrie for sure but then I got to thinkin the Barrie track was already configured by then so dont know what he meant the Barrie track is smaller.. Maybe he meant to say Sauble is just a bit smaller??LOL But I'm guessin your Barrie gears are fine, but not my area of expertice!!!LOL

I will check later for updates. I think I will PM Charlie"the tire expert"Smith to see if he knows about the gears as he has run there, maybe he can come help me with set up and tires too.   ;D

dad runs 6300 at barrie and 6500 at Sauble.....if you have a good handling car in the corners you can gain what you lose in the straights without the extra power.

Thanks JOE!!! How did last night go??? How many cars in each division, and top 3 if you know em wouldnt be bad???

As for me I think I'm comin up Sunday unless my ride fizzles.. And if not will be up for the next Dash in 2 weeks.. I think you might see a few Barrie cars in each division for the racin on the 12th.. What Barrie guys were there last night besides 'The Deuce"???
