your wasting your time lol it doesnt matter if its clear in the rules. i know your talking about 4's but still when a car running the 790 hoosiers can pass tech and it says DOT ONLY tires and thats fine then there is a problem

so i'am thinking of building a four cyl car for the beach
what is everybody's thoughts on what would be the best car to build ?
the hondas are fast but if they clamp down on the rules will they be as fast
that chevy cobalt looks like it works pretty good but doesn't have the power the others have
or dodge neon the blue 98 was getting quicker as the year went on
or can the classic mustang be made fast

read rule 11.
if this rule is enforced as written, 150hp cobalt@2850 lbs., sohc neon @ 2565lbs, dohc neon @2750, nissan 240 @2750lbs.
hondas? too many to different options to mention.2-3000 lbs depending...
Mustang 2000 lbs min.
vw 2000 lbs min
cavalier 2000lb -2800 depending on year/motor

find out what the "real" rules are before you do anything

11. Weight
Minimum weight is 2000 lbs or 19 lbs/ horsepower as manufacturer advertised at the crankshaft (whichever is greater). Maximum left side weight is 55%. Weights will be done with driver in car. Ballast weight must be securely fastened with minimum 3/8" grade 8 bolts, painted white with car number on them and maintain the 5" ride height. Maximum rear weight is 50%.

Sauble Speedway reserves the right to add any amount of weight to any location on any car deemed to be too fast in order to keep this class competitive and fun. The extra weight to be supplied and installed by car owner.

Weight will be added to the first and second place finishing cars each feature event. It must be in place for the following event and for the remainder of the season in the designated location by the tech director. The weight penalty for first place will be 25 lbs and 10 lbs for second. After competing with penalty weight a competitor may lobby for penalty weight removal.

Note: If the make model and year you are racing is less than 100 manufacturer advertised hp you are permitted to modify to achieve 100hp. Any proposed modifications must be submitted in writing and approved by Sauble Speedway.

i guess iam one of them monkey see kind of guys the cobalt won the championship right?
it wasnt the fastest car out there but it was in the top 5 every week
so i am thinking of going that way the cobalt iam looking at is a 2006 2.2l with 140 hp so that would be 2660 or the duel neon i have my eye on is 150hp
i guess my question is what car handles the weight the best when your up in those numbers ?
they had a honda out there with vtec which would be like 160 hp did he run the car at 3000lbs
and the 71 vw how does it walk away from everything ?the number 1 has never looked that fast

I wouldnt base you choice soley off the performance of others. Some people can drive / set up a car, and others cant. A lot of the cars are also cheated up pretty good. I can tell you I picked my car off the fact that it made stock 140hp, 150ft/lbs of torque, and was still a single cam car. Being single cam you can race it anywhere. Where alot of track still have limits on DOHC cars. Independent rear suspension and rear disc brakes are also a plus as well as being able to use a LSD differential. My favourite thing is the fact it's RWD. Tons of more fun that the old FWD probe I used to race. The only thing that may hold me back is weight.

A few good cars out there to build. Hope this helps
