Some of you may have already seen this but for those you haven't take a minute
THE MARK OF A CHAMPION
A Racer's Creed
- RACE BECAUSE YOU LOVE IT. This sport requires too much time, effort and money - not to enjoy every minute of competition.
- Be proud but thankful. Remember . . . one day . . . because of health, finances or other commitments and circumstances - you may no longer be willing or able to race.
- Climb into your car with anticipation and (hopefully) get out of the car with a smile.
- Never deny that you are here to WIN. Racing is about finishing ahead of others - but you have to accept that we can't all win and even those who do - can't win all the time.
- Celebrate your victories and learn from your losses.
- Work to constantly improve your technique, your knowledge and your car.
- Drive as hard as you can and give no quarter, but concede when beaten (into a corner, to the finish line, or at season's end) in a sportsman like manner.
- You lose any race that you don't finish. Your goal should be to complete every race and bring the car back in one piece.
- Remember - Racing is a "non-contact" sport. The fastest line around the track is the one without touching anyone.
- Your success speaks for itself and failure defies excuses. Accept your responsibility for both.
- Keep your car and equipment (as well as your body and mind) in the best possible shape.
- Show courtesy and respect to other racers, crewmembers, officials and fans.
- Read the Rulebook. Know and follow the rules of your series and sanctioning body.
- No matter how commonplace cheating might seem - NO - it's NOT okay!
- Manage your temper, mood and emotions - especially in the heat of battle or adversity.
- When you have a disagreement - get over it. Life's too short for long term grudges.
- There will always be "politics" in racing. Don't let it get to you. Neither life nor racing are always "fair".
- From Formula 1 teams down to weekend warriors - and everyone in between . . . No one has enough money; everyone could be faster if they did; and everyone spends more that they should have.
- Judge your fellow racers by their conduct, ability and attitude. Not by their physical appearance, lifestyle or other non-relevant circumstances.
- Support your personal and series sponsors. Whenever possible use or recommend their products and services.
- Avoid statements and actions that may bring disrepute to you, your team, your sponsors or your series.
- Always thank volunteers and support workers.
- At times, this can be a very serious business. Don't forget to laugh once in a while.
- We have all made mistakes on the track. Sometimes REALLY big ones. It's unfortunately part of the process.
- Remember the important things in life - It's just a race.
- Remember the important things in life - It's just a car.
- Give a helping hand.
