Steve Barber captures first round of the Lussier-Seaway Sportsman Series at Brockville!
The Lussier-Seaway Sportsman Series started last night at Brockville Ontario Speedway for the first of six races for the 2015. Local runner Steve Barber claimed the eventful 50-lap feature event.
A pair of #92 started on the front row of the 30-car field as Martin Pelletier looked strong on the bottom of the speedway as he led the first 11 laps while a good battle occurred behind the Sorel, Quebec drivers as Joey Ladouceur and Jeremy Lasalle were running the top row. Dylan Evoy was the fastest car on the speedway and managed is way to the front by lap 15 as Louie Jackson, Steve Barber and Shane Pecore were also in contention running in the top 5. An accident occurred right before halfway point ending Evoy’s night. Barber used the same lane as Evoy and powered in front by lap 25 with Pelletier and Pecore behind him. Barber was able to keep the top spot surviving a few cautions in the second portion of the race and won his first series race of his career over Louie Jackson, Shane Pecore, Martin Pelletier and Wyatt Mullin rounded out the top 5.

A strong field of 39 cars showed up for the first race, 1 more car than in 2014.
The 2015 edition will likely crown a new champion as Mathieu Desjardins was absent after having a severe crash the night before at Autodrome Granby.
Kyle Wilson, Jason Shipclark, Jeremy Lasalle and Martin Pelletier won the heat races while Adam Rozon and Jessica Power won the consolation races.
The series will travel in Quebec for two event consecutive nights on Friday, July 10 at Autodrome Granby and Saturday, July 11 at Autodrome Drummond.
