APC 300
« on: August 17, 2009, 10:19:11 AM »
http://www.delawarespeedway.com/GreatCanadianRaceWeekend.php

Still may be a few weeks away...they now have a section on there website, but a lot of info is still blank.

I was just wondering if anybody knew if the format for the 300 would be the same or will it be changed?  I remember hearing rumors last year that it may be changed to a straight up 300 lap race.  Just was curious with so many Delaware folks now on CRO if anybody knew.

eaither way I'm looking forward very much to my annual trip to Delaware.  :)

I understand its 200 laps, with 100 laps worth of qualifying races.

Thats unofficial, and everything is subject to change of course.

Fine with me. Regularly budgeted Late Model teams don't need more than 200 laps. Save the 300 lappers for the Sprint Cup wannabe divisions with the uniformed crewmen, tractor trailers, and the wives perched atop the pitside battle wagons.

The 300 is for regular folks!

It would never be 300 straight up. They need a spot to slot in the Chaos cars   ;)

Did Delaware do last year 100 laps Delaware regulars,100 laps visitors & 100 lap race combined (all cars).Donot know how many they can start but possible seneraro (Delaware regulars approx 23 this year plus visitors up to20 for total 43 starting)would think anymore than this would a big traffic jam and lots of cautions something the fans would not like to see as I would presume cautions would count with exceptions to the last 10 laps.

I believe they did two 75 lap races and then a 150.   At least that's what it was two years ago.

I heard this years will be twin 25 lap races for the Delaware Late Models and a 50 lap invader race and the final 200 lap race.

schedule might look like this

First 25 lap Delaware points race
50 lap Invader race
second 25 lap Delaware points race
Krown Junior Racing League Demonstration
200 lap final race

anyone kno of any invaders going to attend this race?

we might as well get a list of the probable roster like we did here on cro last year of who was attending or might be coming.

I think you've pretty much got it.

Only change is that I heard it's a 25 lap invader race plus a 25 lap final chance consi.

The starting grids for the two 25 lap Delaware points races will be set using the same qualifying format as last Friday - 1st lap is your spot for the 1st race, 2nd lap is your spot for the 2nd race.

Will they need a Consi race though?    I mean it would be awesome to see so many cars that everyone has to race there way into the 200 lap Race.... but wasn't there only like 30-32 cars last year?

There have been that many cars present on Friday nights earlier this year.  I could certainly see more than that coming for the big weekend.  Not to mention a total purse of $40,000.

I think with Barrie running our rules package and Flam being so close not to mention the incredible number of cars in late model races this year we will have atleast 15 more cars showing up from other tracks to go along with our usual 20 - 25 cars so thats 40 and i think the cut off is around 33 or 34 so the 2 delaware 25s the 25 for invaders and the 25 consi will be a great format

and to answer your question last year was 50, 50, 200 for the 300 and from what i remember incredibly LONG with cautions

That depends on how many qualify through each "heat". If you only take the top 10 or 12 and make everyone else race in thru the consi, then it makes sense.

I heard the same thing the Voice did actually. Only question that arises for me is if the twin Delaware features are also their qualifier for the 200, how do they decide who makes the show? Total points for the twin races?

IMO, the Delaware guys have too much riding on the outcome of those twin 25s, and I don't beleive its actually fair to them to have to race for so much on the line - and then have that count as their qualifier too. Besides, the APC LM champoinship should have its own main event night, and not be relegated to what's essentially the undercard of a bigger event.

Just my opinion, but it'll still be a hell of a show.

Yep, and don't forget the fact that the invader race will be, if I'm understanding correctly, worth NASCAR points too...so some of those Barrie guys could come down just because of that. Not to mention guys running for NASCAR points elsewhere, like that Robbie Pyle that was out earlier this season. He'd give the field a run fo their money...plus I bet he'd have a little "remember me?" present for Urlin.
