Delaware charging for camping
« on: June 04, 2010, 08:36:06 PM »
Not sure if anyone noticed but Delaware has decided to charge $20 for camping.  What was a cheap and enjoyable weekend has become less cheap.  I know its not a lot of money but thats not the point. The point is that what was once a nice little bonus (free camping), is gone.  Money grab perhaps?

All I can say is there is a cost to the track owners to provide the camping. The porta poos do cost, there is security from what I understand, and from my much younger days when I camped, $20.00 bucks is preaty cheap for a week-end of camping.Plus there isn't alot of rules to abide by. We have been spoiled with free camping but they are in buisness and to keep it going they have to make a return. Have fun and see you out there.

Grand Bend Speedway charges $20.00 per weekend or $250.00 for the season.  This includes water hook up, but no electricity...there are porta poos, and the washrooms at the tech building are always open too. What is also great is we get to store our trailer there for the winter as well, for no extra fee!

i'm sure there's a track somewhere in North America that will wipe your butt when you walk out of the porta-potty, this isn't new, it was $20 back when it was the super series....

Holy Hell...With all the money that has been spent around the track!!! WHINING about 20 bucks!!!
Security around the clock, grass cutting, clean up, garbage removal. I sincerely hope you guys can find something else to whine about!
I think $20 bucks was an honest charge for a great time! I heard a few years ago michigan was 200 a nite...just saying!!!

Apple to apples. The next time Varney hosts the NASCAR Canadian Tires Series we'l see if they let you camp for free. Just saying!
I'm sure the track laid out a considerable amount of money to get this event off. I don't think charging 20 bucks for basically an unlimited amount of time for camping during this big event weekend is out of line.

$20 bucks is nothing really. I was there this weekend and it was very loosely charged as there was no organization at all. There was no one at the gate and no one to pay the fee to. We just camped like every year. I did notice more porta pots and security around the clock, who by the way were excellent. We had a great time as always!
