Amor gets another win at Plymouth Speedway

PLYMOUTH, Ind. — Monday, May 14, 2012 — Shawn Amor was back in victory
lane again Friday night at the Plymouth Speedway, and made it a
successful night finishing in the top five of each of the three races
he participated in.

Amor wheeled his No. 28A car to a one second advantage over D.J. Frost
and Jeff Stetler, who finished second and third, in the Street Stock
division. All three drivers are from Plymouth. Amor led most of the
race, taking the lead from David Long who also was in front of the
pack. Long dropped out and finished 12 laps under. In fourth, J.J.
Yaley finished on the lead lap, as did PeeWee Warren. Tim Birk was
sixth; Kay Kauffman seventh and Long finished last.

Another Plymouth driver, veteran racer Flyin’ Brian Ross was able to
grab his first win of the season in his No. 42, in the Outlaw Late
Models.

“I have never won a local championship,” Ross said. “I’ve won other
titles in other places, but I would like to get a local championship
before I hang up my helmet.”

Finishing out the 12-car field on the lead lap was Zeke Lewis in
second; Steve Stacy in third; Shawn Amor in fourth; Roger Northrop in
fifth; and Zach Tanner in sixth.

Nick Pressler raced Mike Horvath to the line in the Outlaw Late
Models, narrowly taking the checkers by less than half a second. Rich
Boal, already a winner here at Plymouth Speedway this season, pulled
off early and headed to the pits. Amor was third, Kevin Gunkel fourth
and Tom Hellinga was fifth.

Daren Miller was back at the track’s winner’s podium sponsored by R& B
Car Company. Sal Bustamante finished second in Hornets and Garrett
Saunders third, followed by Nelson Frost and Jamie Henriksen.

Once again, a fan favorite children’s bicycle races were held, and
there’s more fun on the horizon this weekend at the Speedway. Friday
is DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and autograph night.
Saturday is the Gertrude Street Metal Recycling Crash-O-Rama with a
bus race, trailer race, cops and robbers race and more. Gates open at
6 p.m. with Monster Truck Rides until 7:45 p.m. Saturday night. Racing
begins at 8 p.m both nights.
