Tiger Automotive Pro Trucks – Family Pizza 75
The early racing on Wednesday night had race officials expecting to see
a full moon rising above Auto Clearing Motor Speedway, but it was not to
be. After a smooth Shell V-Power Sportsman heat race won by Matt
Shirley, the Golf’s Car Wash Mini Stocks took to the track and showed
they forgot everything they know about racing during their three weeks off.
16 minutes into the race and only six laps completed, the checkered flag
flew along with the fifth caution flag, ending the heat race on a time
limit. Jamie Tataryn was left scratching his head, but he took the 15
points for being first across the line as the race ended under caution.
The ‘quit fooling around’ statement seemed to sink in and we saw
terrific racing out of the mini stocks the rest of the night. In the
Golf’s Car Wash Mini Stock feature, Cole Nixey was able to hold off
Jamie Tataryn, bringing the #23 33rd Street Auto Integra across the line
ahead of Jamie’s #41 Streetwise Service Neon. Tanner Reimer, after
picking up a black flag in the heat, was third in the #25 The Results
Team Honda Civic.
After the heat win in the in the V-Power Sportsman heat race, Matt
Shirley had the #12 Co-op Grand Prix moving up through the field to join
the battle for the lead going on between Neil Schneider and Ben Busch in
the feature race. Matthew moved into second and was challenging Neil
for the lead, but a little too deep and a little too hard into corner
one with a couple of laps left meant a scrape with the wall coming out
of two had Matt’s car moving back through the field, an uncommon sight.
That left open air between Ben Bush and Neil for the lead, but there
just wasn’t enough time for Ben to build any kind of plan to get around
Neil. Neil Schneider and the #93 Burco Electric Avenger took home the
checkered flag, with Ben Busch taking up second in the #49 Northern
Lights Casino Monte Carlo and Kirk Senger, having a much improved year,
rounding up the podium in the #5 Rally Motor Group Dodge Charger.
In the Tiger Automotive Pro Trucks, the #10 of Kevin Dyck picked up the
first heat, with #19 Aaron Anderson taking the win in the second heat.
#15 of Andrew Hardy was first to the line in the first qualifier, with
#94 Ben Pogoda doing likewise in the second qualifier.
It was a hot night for a long feature, but the Tiger Automotive Pro
Trucks had trophies on the line for the Family Pizza 75 and several
drivers were hungry for that piece of hardware they’d have to keep
polished. Early in the race it looked like Aaron Anderson was going to
be the truck to beat as he took the lead early and was driving out in
clean air, but by lap 30 Kevin Dyck decided he had enough of tasting
Aaron’s exhaust and worked his way around him.
Aaron didn’t give up though and kept tight on his tail for the balance
of the race. Aaron just couldn’t squeak that little extra out of his
truck and the race ended with Kevin Dyck and the #10 Wheaton GM Sierra
taking home the largest Family Pizza trophy. Aaron Anderson and the #19
Ens Auto Group Tundra settled for the mid-size trophy and Andrew Hardy
got the small trophy with the #15 D&S Developments Dodge Ram.
It’s a weekend of rest for racers and volunteers as the next racing
action at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway comes next Friday, August 21st as
we help kick off Rock 102’s fantastic Show n Shine Weekend. With
activities around the city all weekend, racing goes Friday night at
7:05pm. Gates for the Super Late Model, Pro Truck and Street Stock show
open at 6:00. The Golf’s Car Wash Street Stocks will be running the
Rick Fredrickson Memorial Race.
