Steve Love suffers DNF in first career Mini Stock start
By: Ashley McCubbin --- After helping out his brother Brian Love over the course of his career, Steve Love would hop behind the wheel of a mini stock for the first time. Unfortunately, the rookie suffered a DNF after making heavy contact with the wall at halfway.

Love started out by finishing 10th in his first heat as he got used to his No. 40 Eckhart Auto Sales, Tire Depot Barrie and Garry Mercer Trucking Incorporated Civic. He would then finish sixth in the second mini stock consolation race to qualify 28th for the main 35 lap feature that night.

On the opening lap, trouble struck in turn one with the form of multi-car wreck near the front of the field. Love was able to avoid the maylay and keep all four fenders clean on his ride. By avoiding the wreck and making a couple passes along the way, Love worked his way up to the 20th spot by the second caution at lap five for Brad Burleigh’s spin.

Once they went back green, Love would continued to make solid laps and would fall a lap down to defending series champion and race leader Warren Paxton around lap 10.

Love continued to run the high-line through turn three and four, and as he came off the corner and came own a little on lap 17, Billy Melenhorst was there and contact was made. Love would then make heavy contact with the wall, ending his night early as he required a toe off of the track.

Photos from the action on track are posted on Brian Love’s website at http://www.brianlove04.com. Stay tuned to Love’s website all year long to keep up with everything. We look forward to seeing you at the track this weekend – May 17th – for the first event of the “Super Series”.
