Dylan Evoy Sets Sites on Track and Series Titles on Championship Weekend at Mohawk Raceway and Brockville Speedway

This coming weekend, Evoy will return to Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night for the final points race of the season. It will be a 40 lap main event, with points counting towards both the overall title and the Frenchie’s “Go Further” Sportsman Series championship. Saturday night will also feature a 40 lap main event, with points once again going towards both regular track points as well as the Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series Championship.
After a third place finish last Friday night at Mohawk Raceway, Evoy sits just 19 points away for the point leader in his quest for his third straight Sportsman championship going into this coming Friday night’s championship night. Evoy, also the two-time reigning champion in the Frenchie’s “Go Further” Sportsman Series, is just four points out of the lead in that series, and a win on Friday night would virtually lock up his third Frenchie’s title.
“It is going to be exciting, that’s for sure”, says Evoy. “We will go out there with our best effort, and try to win the race, and let the points fall where they fall. We have 19 points to make up and if we can win the race, the rest will be out of our control”.
Brockville Speedway will offer a little bit different scenario for Evoy. The track championship has already been decided going into the last week, so Evoy will do his best to move up the standings. He is currently third in track points, just 17 points behind second place. Evoy is very much in contention for the Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Series championship, sitting fourth in the series standings, and only 12 points away from the top of the standings. Winning the Ogilvie’s title would be special for the Evoy team, as Ogilvie’s Auto & Fleet Service has been one of the team’s primary sponsors for several years.
“We would like to end the regular season on a good note at Brockville, and hopefully we can win that Ogilvie’s Series”, says Evoy. “We had some issues earlier in the season that took us out of contention for the track championship, but we feel we have a great shot at the Ogilvie’s championship”.
The regular season ends after this weekend, but there are still a few events remaining in 2013. Evoy racing plans to race at Mohawk International Raceway’s season finale on September 14th before ending the 2013 season at Brockville Speedway on Friday, October 18th.
