Sunset Website Suggestions
« on: March 05, 2008, 01:56:45 PM »
There had been discussion in the past about the sunset website on these boards a few months ago regarding how it was going down hill.  I don't want to upset whoever does it now because i appreciate the effort but we need to be real.  It has gone in reverse with regards to the amount of information and content and the timeliness of info.  I think that something needs to be done because the website can add so much for the fans, drivers, teams and sponsors. Ultimately it is the first impression on alot of people because they will probably check out the website if they hear about it before they go for times and directions ect.  It is a great investment bang for your buck wise to attract potential fans, racers and sponsors to your track with the ability to showcase proffessionalism.  When Mark did the website it was the best one around IMO, the track needs it to be up to it's old standards it really wouldn't take alot but I don't have the programming know how.  I will call Glenn regarding this but I would like ideas from all of you out there as to what should be on a race tracks website or your ideas on the best ones around.  Here are some of the things we need back:

Stats  starts, top 10, top 5, wins, ave finish like we had before
photos and results from all events and results archived on the site like we had before
write ups that elude to recent track events...
correct spelling of names and sponsors which should be really easy

only two months till racing......does anyone support this...racers, fans?  am i on crack here?

LOL...Evan...

I think they really could use better, non-opinionated write ups.

Wow...# of starts?...Top tens?...Top 5's...wins?...average finish.

I think Barrie is the only track in Ontario that goes to that extent ?

We're just happy to see results and points up once a month down here near the big city.Lol.
Although theyve promised every week this year.
Peterboro has to have the worst overall site, i think.

Sauble and Varney have atrocious web design, very clunky and unfunctionable..

i agree sunsets sucks, slamboro speedway is really bad, but peterborough just plain stinks. they haven't updated since 2004, and they wonder why the track is suffering. too bad!

I think Barrie and Kawartha are ahead int eh catagory by alot...I really think these tracks undervalue the websites....big time...and it is one of the things that the new generation racer looks for...and imo it is a direct indication of the health of your speedway.

kawarthas is nice, but it lacks an updated drivers roster (last year it took 2 months for them to do it) a classifieds section and their photo section sometimes goes weeks without being updated

No peterboro is the worst. No pics for last 2 years I think..lol.
No important updates. The Autumn Colours was brutal trying to get info last year with the weather.

I would say Barrie is best.
Sunsets is better than alot.
Varney has recap and pictures up everyweek.
Flamboro recaps and pics when they want.
Sauble is near the bottom.

The Sauble website gets points, heat and feature winners, and a few photos every week, usually by Monday or Tuesday.
