Good dinner and all that last night, but the thing that stood out most for me was all the clapping for people who were not there.......?
Not just the drivers, all but TWO of the track sponsors were absent, now it may have been coincedental that they all had previous gig's elsewhere, just seemed a little odd.

The awards for the staff was a real cool way to say thanks  ;D

I would have hung around longer, our table made a healthy contribution to the charity auction, but man it went on for a while....lol we had to get going,  did they ever bust out any tunes or was it over after the last Pyrex bowl was sold? ;)

I spent more time getting ready for the banquet than I actually did AT the banquet. hahaha :D
The auction, though a great idea, took a horrendously long time. I mean... I'm guessing I got there at the beginning of it? (20 to 9pm) and I think the music started maybe near 10:30, and by that time a lot of people had left... Crazy long, but nice to know the money went to charity. :)

I also liked the awards to the staff, it's about time their work was reconized. :)

Wouldn't read into that. I don't think any track has every sponsor show up. For example Coke, they would need a staff just to go to events for things they sponsor... Lucus oil guy I bet would be in the metal ward after attending his 100's banquet.

Well he should be in there soon because he showed up!!

ya exactly ross i'm glad you specifically mentioned the lucas oil guy cause he was there, which he should be, along with the majority of the rest of the sponsors like they have been for the previous 3 years i've attended.  ross you are clearly an [COC-Edit - Watch the Language] in this coversation, it is really transparent, as well as the lack of sponsors being at the banquet and most likely a good indication that something is wrong with the communication between the sponsors and the track, seeing as the track didn't even know one way or the other that they would be there.

WOULD YOU NOT CALL THE TITLE SPONSORS OF YOUR F-ING RACETRACK TO SEE IF THEY WERE COMING TO THE BANQUET!!!  THINK ABOUT IT!!  WHATS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

the way i see it it is one of 2 things took place:

1)  no communication by the track to the sponsors regarding attending the banquet

2)  there was communication and the sponsors decided not to come, then is was a bad move to announce all these awards to people you know arent coming because of the appearance it gives.

I won the championship and spent $350 on tickets to take my team to this.

I got $175, a trophy, and no jacket. and spent about $120 in the charity auction

I figured if there was no jacket that the prize money would be a little higher at least.

I think the prize money was higher last year and given to more drivers, and the meal and the location were the same, tickets half the price and trophies for the rest of the drivers in the top 10.

Sorry but it left a bad taste in my mouth....

Glenn wasn't making money most of the year but we didn't get raped at the banquet by him, he didn't gouge us on tickets and cheese out on the prizes.

ok good that makes me feel better...

and on a positive note it was nice to see the staff get recognized...

but overall i was left with the feeling that the banquet was more for the track than the drivers seeing we got less for more this year...the way i see it the prizes should at least stay the same if not increase....but i don't believe that they should ever get smaller unless you are spreading the same money among more people, not less prizes for less people for more money to attend

175 bucks to win the 4 cyl. title USER???? Barrie pays 800 I believe just to put that into perspective!!!LOL And you would of got trophy, and a really nice championship ring too, not too sure about a jacket but I think that might even be the case as well. Plus we have many other awards, and Mike the photo guy always puts together an awesome video of the race season (no auction)plus gives each of the drivers a nice 8x12 of their car. I'd say Barrie is the place for the Epic Motorsports guys in 09 if I get a vote and you guys know you want to hang with your buddy BLKFLAGAGAIN!!!LOL

lack of sponsors being at the banquet and most likely a good indication that something is wrong with the communication between the sponsors and the track,

Let me dumb it down a bit for you. Every track this year will have sponsors, that will return, that do not attend the banquet. If you cannot figure out the reason(s) for youself, other than they do not intend to support the track, that I don't think I can exaplain it to you.

Also unlike you, the rest of us will attend our banquets, find sponsors absent, and not bitch about it.

Its funny how people complain about the place, and keep going back. What does that say about you?

You never cease to amaze me Ross....you are beyond a shadow of a doubt "The Internet Legend"  nobody bitched about sponsor not being there, it was an observation, based on the last 3 or 4 years we had a pretty good turn out, this year has been riddled with sour grapes, the turnout at the banquet for drivers and sponsors alike was sad.

If the Sunset forums were dead you would have nothing to do with your time, you stir up more schitt in here with your contrary remarks on every damn thing that happens and half the time you don't have the comon sense to read and or comprehend what has been posted before you spout off.

You are not the voice of reason, you are not the track public relations ambassador, you are as guilty of shit disturbing as anyone of the people with a valid reason to in here.

F&^&k I am tired of your condescending BS  "Let me dumb it down a bit for you"   are you for real?  LOL.

For a while I figured it was a case of Wes "Fanboyism" going on here but it's not, it is just simply somebody with nothing better to do that gets his rocks off arguing with people and pointing out where they fall short on the Ross Evans "Internet Legends" philosophy on everything.

Ya gotta love the Sunset folk! They can always find something to argue about including the banquet.
