Magione, Italy - September 12, 2015 - Alon Day (#54 CAAL Racing Chevrolet SS) put on a dominant performance in scoring his maiden NASCAR win at the ELITE 1 Semi Final 1 at the Autodromo dell'Umbria in Magione, Italy.

“My strategy was to survive at turn one and push as much as I could and manage to stay in a good position. There was a safety car, so i had to do everything again,” said the winner. “I’m just very happy. All the team, all the mecanics did a fantastic job. Tomorrow will be harder, even if I’m on pole, because the tyres are older. It’s going to be interesting.”

After posting a record setting pole position, the 24-year-old from Israel had a perfect start and quickly opened a gap on the rest of the field, led by his teammates Eddie Cheever III (#51 CAAL Racing Toyota Camry) and Nicolò Rocca (#56 CAAL Racing Chevrolet SS). Cheever stopped on lap 11 due to a problem with his car and on lap 16 Ander Vilarino (#2 TFT-Banco Santander Chevrolet SS), who started fourth, took advantage of a restart to pass Rocca for second and maximize his gain in terms of points. The spaniard crossed the finish line 4 seconds behind Day, edging Rocca, Anthony Kumpen (#24 PK Carsport Chevrolet SS) and Philipp Lietz (#67 GDL Racing Ford Mustang), who also led the Challenger Trophy classification. Day also led Junior “Jerome Sarran” Trophy classification.

Wilfried Boucenna (#37 Knauf Racing Team Ford Mustang) came from ninth on the grid to sixth under the checkered flag ahead of Florian Renauer (#5 Dexwet Renauer Team Ford Mustang) and Freddy Nordström (#44 GDL Racing Ford Mustang). Hugo Bec (#8 RDV Compétition Ford Mustang) and Romain Iannetta (#7 TFT Chevrolet SS), who suffered a couple of contacts during the race, rounded out the top-10.

It was an unlucky debut for Brandon Gdovic (#46 Precision Performance Motorsport Chevrolet Camaro), who had a contact in the early stages of the race and was later forced to retire.

Vilarino extended his margin in the championship standings on the now-second Rocca, who is leading an incredibly tight group of drivers looking to have their say in the title hunt.
