TSN gets more NASCAR rights
by Sean Davidson
TSN and NASCAR have signed another round of deals, extending the sports channel's rights to air auto races into 2010. Following agreements revealed Thursday, TSN will carry the NASCAR Nextel series of races - which includes the Daytona 500 - for another three years and has extended its partnership pact on NASCAR Canada to 2015. A third, newly struck, deal will see NASCAR Canada serve as the sales and marketing agent for the newly formed NASCAR Canadian Tire Series through 2015.

"NASCAR has a loyal following and rising fan base in Canada and, as a result, has delivered strong NASCAR audiences on TSN," said channel president Phil King in a release. TSN snagged record ratings for its coverage of the 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series with a national average audience of 332,000 viewers, up 15% from 2005.

Last month, TSN secured a multi-year agreement to air the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, which gets underway in May. It recently acquired broadcast rights to all 35 NASCAR Busch Series races, including the inaugural Montreal race.
