Micks takes fourth in Barrie NASCAR series

BARRIE, ONTARIO (July 1, 2007) – Considering the crew of the Beyond Digital Imaging Ford Taurus spent a lot of time thrashing with the car, team driver Kerry Micks took fourth place in Sunday’s Mopar 300 at Barrie Speedway in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
“We are pleased with a top-five finish, as we didn’t qualify all that well,” said Micks, of Mount Albert, ON. “It took us most of the night to get the car sorted out,” he added. “The crew did a great job and by the last pit stop we had one fast BDI race car.”
D.J. Kennington won the event followed by Mark Dilley in second and Don Thomson Jr. in third.
“D.J. (Kennington), Mark (Dilley) and Donnie (Thomson) are real tough customers and they all ran a heck of a race,” added Micks, who said he was a little disappointed in missing a podium finish. Micks qualified 17th in the 20-car field, which saw 13 lead changes between six drivers and 101 of the 300 laps under the caution flag.
“It’s very encouraging for the team to have BDI on board as a primary sponsor for the rest of the tour with associate sponsorship from Nur America and HP Canada,” said Micks. “We’ll go back to the shop and get things ready for the western Canada swing to British Columbia and Alberta.”
The next NASCAR Canadian Tire Series event for Micks Motorsports will be race four in the 12-race series in Vernon, British Columbia, the Dodge Avenger 300 at Sunvalley Speedway on July 14-15.
