Local race car driver Charlie Sandercock will take another step in his young racing career and take the reins of a 700 horsepower Southern Ontario Sprints 360 Sprint Car for the first time this Saturday at Brighton Speedway.  Charlie, who has raced in almost every division at the speedway is now a top competitor in the Pro Late Model class will be doing double duty this Saturday as he battles for the checkered flag in two classes this weekend.

Sandercock has impressed many with his driving skills over the past 11 years, but has made a roaring leap since February 2012.Last winter, Sandercock was given, "an opportunity of a lifetime", according to the 25 year old driver, by fellow competitor, Greg Belyea.  Charlie, Greg and their crew in tow, headed to Florida to compete in 9 days of North America's most grueling Super Late Model races at Volusia and Bubba Speedway with the World of Outlaw Late Models.  With some success and vast knowledge gained, Sandercock continues to expand his driving opportunities with his great results and picked up the win this past week in his Late Model at his home track Brighton.

The promising driver will be once again at the helm of a Belyea ride this weekend as the touring "Winged Warriors" of the Southern Ontario Sprints hit the 1/3rd mile oval to race at Brighton Speedway. Although, slightly nervous, Sandercock's intuitive driving skills will be his best quality as he takes on two fields of cars in the Pro Late Model and Sprint Car division.  Fans that were on hand last Saturday at the Speedway were able to see Sandercock getting his first taste of the open wheeled car as he brought Belyea's #25 Sprint car out for practice in two hot lap sessions on May 12th and looked right at home in the seat. Don't miss out on your chance to see it this weekend
