(London, Ontario – June 25 2012) – Night two of the double header
weekend saw the Southern Ontario Sprints head west to South Buxton
Raceway Saturday night with SOS drivers making up almost half of the 27
cars entered for the evening, the second of four co-sanctioned Northern
Summer Nationals events.
Bob Crawford was the only SOS regular to not make the trip to South
Buxton after suffering rear end issues at Ohsweken Speedway the night
before.
The stands were packed to capacity as the fans showed their support of
sprint car racing in western Ontario, taking advantage of one of only 2
chances to see the winged warriors in action at their end of the province.
Glenn Styres, former SOS Champion, would again get the night started in
the right direction by winning his heat race.
SOS vice president and long time competitor, Dick Mahoney 79, put
another mark in the win column taking the 'B' Main to transfer into the
main event.
#2 Brad Lodge qualified for the 'A' Main but was unable to start due to
mechanical issues.
The 25 lap feature was won by 5b Justin Barger from New York state, an
ESS regular. The 07x Dain “The Michigan Traveler” Naida was the top
finishing Southern Ontario Sprints regular in 5th place, earning him a
$100 bonus sponsored by Glenn Styres and Ohsweken Speedway for being the
highest finishing SOS driver.
NOTES
- The fastest tour in Ontario next returns to Brighton Speedway July
14th for the “SOS Summer Showdown”. $2,500 will be waiting in victory
lane as part of the largest purse ever presented by the SOS. The runner
up will take home $1,000 and 3rd place will pay $600. The feature will
start 25 drivers to battle it out for 25 laps in the biggest showdown of
the summer at Brighton Speedway.
