Remembering Yesterday, Looking Forward to Tomorrow
Cayuga Speedway Park to host NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Subway 200 presented by Sicard Holiday Campers
NELLES CORNERS, Ontario (Aug. 22, 2007) – This Labour Day weekend, the “Crown Jewel” of Canadian racetracks will shine again. For over 40 years, Cayuga Speedway Park has hosted some of the largest events in Canadian stock car competition. This 5/8-mile oval track is one of Canada’s premier racing facilities, it proudly earned its nicknames as “The Charlotte of the North” and the “The Crown Jewel” for its door-to-door, bumper-to-bumper action. It offers both the speed of a super speedway and the tight action of a short track.

Over the years, Cayuga has challenged some of NASCAR’s legendary drivers in battles against Canada’s top stars. The “Intimidator” Dale Earnhardt Sr., Rusty Wallace, Darrel Waltrip, Jack Hollis, Junior Hanley, and Don Biederman are just but a few of the names. Canada’s largest oval facility also has hosted current NASCAR stars, Matt Kenseth, Tony Stewart and Canadian Ron Fellows.

To help remember yesterday, NASCAR legend Bobby Allison will be on hand for all the festivities. Allison is a former champion of NASCAR’s premier series and was named, in 1998, as one of NASCAR’s 50 greatest drivers. The three-time Daytona 500 winner also inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1993.

In its inaugural season, the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Sirius Satellite Radio has provided racing fans all over Canada with exciting fender-to-fender finishes. The winners in four of the past five events have been determined in the final lap. See NASCAR Canadian Tire Series young stars J.R. Fitzpatrick and Andrew Ranger clash once again on the track. They will be joined by veterans Don Thomson Jr., Ron Beauchamp Jr., Mark Dilley, Kerry Micks, Peter Gibbons and NASCAR Busch Series competitor D.J. Kennington. All of the drivers and teams in attendance will have the pedal to the metal in the Subway 200 presented by Sicards Holiday Campers as the 2007 season winds down and the championship battle heats up.

Free weekend camping is available compliments of Sicard Holiday Campers. For ticket and further information about the Subway 200 presented by Sicard Holiday Campers, visit our race schedule page or call 1-866-670-1958. Get there early for the Tailgate party and Midway.

RACE DAY: Gates Open at 11:00am, Pre-time trials at 2:30 - 4:00pm, Time trials at 4:30 - 5:15pm, Green Flag 8:05pm
