Cayuga Thunder Car Invitational
« on: June 30, 2008, 01:10:14 PM »
Before the hail storm of crap flies over this suggesting please post on this topic with clear definitive resolution.
I spoke with Tim Chapman today at the ARCA race and he still wants to convince Santucci that the Thunder Car Invitational would be a good event. However he stated he needs a firm commitment of 25 drivers MINIMUM and would like too see around 40. Is anybody in the Thunders interested? The purse was going to be a big one if and only if there was interest in trying your car out on a Big track. OK let it rip!!!!

If the delaware super stocks are allowed to run in this event you can count us in. We ran with the outlaw thunder cars the last two times they were at cayuga and had a blast. Give us a date and I know of at least 5 to 8 other delaware cars that would come as well.

Would need a date JWO... Also I can't see any non 602 cars coming to race 50 hp down, myself included, as much as I would like to run that track.

Sunday, no 602's, and a resonable start, not a 40 car wreckfest (run a A and B main if you want) and I would be in.

I don't think many people would come if 602's and 4 speeds are allowed. I know Delaware runs them but they are the only ones, everyone else is at a disadvantage, that engine is our LM engine at BSW.

Sunday would be the best date for just about anyone.

Between all of the tracks I think you could easily get 25 cars and probably a lot more.

Spencer Lewis should be the announcer too.

Definately see Slaughter Racing there in a heartbeat! the only thing that would discourage us is the 602 Delaware Thunders, i have to agree with Thunder 6 on that one!

No Flamborough runs 602's also, and with JWOracing coming from there, its not going to be in his interest to disqualify himself. Would need around 650 lbs to equalize the HP to weight, so thats is out of the question.

Run 2 features, one with 602s (Flamborough and Delaware rules) and one with the rest of us.

Might be a bit late to get this happening anyhow, can't really put the word out at the track, without at date.

This might work, one 602 feature and one built feature... If there are around 40 cars you'd pretty much have to do that anyways. Flammy and Delaware cars running together, BSW, Sunset, Sauble, Varney, Kawartha and Mosport cars all running together.

rossevans30 does Flammy run an Automatic? For some reason I thought they did.

Flammy runs TH350 with drive couplers rather than torques I think?. Big advantage.

I'd definately bring the #71 Delaware Super Stocker.
I've been waiting for over two years to get back there.

But,
I'm really confused. I thought everyone keeps saying that they can make built engines for less than the 602 and that the built engines make more power. I just bought my second crate engine after running the original 602 for 5 seasons (timing chane broke and bent 2 valves) this engine was not touched other than a new set of valve springs last year and regular Oil changes. Not bad for a $3500 crate engine, 5 years.

I'd have to agree with LAKER77 there would be a easy 6 -8 Delaware SS that would go.

1) Even if flamborough runs dirrect drive, who cares, they have the 602 anyhow...

2) You can build for cheaper than a 602, but most rules don't allow it, Last time I checked, builts can't run Vortec heads and .430 (or is it .420) lift cams. Nother thread on that one...

3) I'm not from Flamborough, I'm from Kawartha and Mosport. I can tell you the hp there is around 290 ish since some guys have run the 290hp crate, which is the option down this way. I'd be more than happy to put the word out at both tracks, but WE NEED A POTENTIAL DATE(S)

DB71,

I know where your confusion is... Here at Barrie we can run a built engine, or a crate. The crate available to us is NOT the 602. The 602 at Barrie is the LLM engine. The crate that is available to us is actually a truck engine, and nowhere near the 602. We can build a built that is better than the crate available to us (which actually isn't a bad engine, it just runs out of steam at about 6200).

We are not permitted to use the 602, Vortech heads etc... we have to use Large Chamber 76cc 1.94 / 1.50. Think smogger '70's era heads, stock. We also (many of us) use the Powerglide, I can't think of anyone running the Turbo 350.
