also Derek-the modified race at Cayuga was an ROC (Race of Champions) tour race promoted by Andy Harpell, not a Nascar mod tour race, but once again no-one except the hard core knew it existed. It would have been natural to advertise in the Buffalo area and Gater racing news, but nada. Americans used to make up 1/3 of the crowd at Cayuga.
And I agree with you guys, this passport excuse has gotten kind of old. They've known for eons. And a friend from North Tonawanda said he got his "super drivers license"-good for land crossings only-back within a three week turnaround.

mike32 - i guess my memory is getting a bit ...whatever. I do remember it
being a really good Mod race, with a fairly good car count.

Tommy - any idea why the Ohio cars didnt show?  I really expected them
to be there.

I did too...a few have always made an appearance at Cayuga in the past...other than it not being a points race for them, I don't really know why...

Kudos to the Gillingham for coming.

the car perley brought to cayuga was his main car he ran his backup car at oswego and as soon as the wing started coming apart his car really slowed down at cayuga.  As for the ohio cars more of them that ran oswego should have come to cayuga it's almost as far to oswego from cayuga as it is for most of the ohio cars to drive to oswego so for an extra five hours tow and some fuel they would have picked up a decent pay and here is the key...points.  In the upcoming Hy-miler weekend the highest MSA, Oswego, and isma cars in their points who haven't made show get a provisional and most of the isma cars will make show on their own so cherrypicking the race would have given them another way to get in if need be.  It is possible that a couple cars from MSA may skip toledo and come to delaware for two day isma pay.   Rich came with his 55 car and nothing else his crew went home from oswego luckily the supermod group is a close one and with some phone calls a small crew was there waiting for him.

As for the fan count, promotion and everchanging info can easily be blamed, by the way how much was it to get in anyway?  Did the concerts go?

The Cayuga website has removed all reference to the August "Race of Champions" event and the next event countdown clock is all zeros. I have not heard any advertising for this or found anything else on the web. Another event down the drain ???

The "Race of Champions" Event is apparently being rescheduled to Humberstone Speedway on August 23rd. Rusty and Kenny Wallace, Dave Blaney and Jimmy Spencer are the only names I've heard being mentioned as attending. The Humberstone site states that an announcement is coming. I was told that this was heard at Ohsweken and I also received a phone call today stating the same thing. I've also seen posts on Inside Track's forum confirming this.

Looks and sounds that way...they hosted some sort of private event this week in the early morning and the signs out front read as "Mazda"  ... looked like some sort of film crew.

Anyone have the low down ?

Just noticed that the Nascar Night at Humberstone is being advertised on the Cayuga Speedway website. Odd to see. But good to see also. I think it's good to see Cayuga at least letting folks know that the race has been moved if they are looking for it on their site.

Just noticed that Cayuga's countdown clock is active again. If my math is right the date is July 10th. Did a search of all the usual sanctions and couldn't see anything scheduled and Cayuga's site doesn't say what is happening July 10th.

Maybe that is when the auction is :-\
