Tyler Hawn Makes History at Jukasa Motor Speedway

In the first OSCAAR Hot Rod Series event at Jukasa Motor Speedway, it’d be a familiar face taking home the checkered flag.

When the feature saw  Tyler Hawn and Billy Alderson Jr. draw the front row starting spots, the fans knew they’d be in a for a show with the early season heavy weights together.

The predictions proved correct as Alderson Jr. grabbed the early lead, pacing the first half of the 20-lap feature on Saturday afternoon. However, Hawn wasn’t about to be denied, making the move past Alderson around the midway point of the event, taking the top spot.

Tyler Hawn then led from that point to the end, scoring his third feature victory of the 2018 campaign. Billy Alderson Jr. finished third for his third top-five finish in four races.

Behind the leaders, the battle for third was just as equally exciting. Fischer looked hopeful at first to keep the positive momentum moving forward from Kawartha, keeping Steve Book behind him through most of the feature for third. However, a late charge from Steve Mayhew proved enough, as he’d make the late-race pass to break onto the podium.

Steve Mayhew’s third-place finish marks a season-best, while Fischer’s fourth is his third straight top-five finish. Steve Book rounded out the top-five with his second straight fifth-place finish.

Jerry Broom crossed the finish line in sixth for a season-best, ahead of Derek Henderson with a season-best seventh. Ken McNicol placed eighth in his first start of the 2018 campaign ahead of Dan Price, whom pulled off early with mechanical issues. Unfortunately, Nick Clarke also ran into the issues, handing him a 10th-place finish.

The OSCAAR Hot Rod Series will be back at Jukasa Motor Speedway on June 23 alongside the OSCAAR Modifieds and the Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model Series. Event details are located at https://www.jukasamotorspeedway.com/.
