The two round idea is good but lock the top 12(owner Points and forfeited if there is a rookie in the car) in from the previous year, unless they fail prerace inspection then you can only have one lap in the second round. Only provisionals would go to race winners from the previous year to a max of races won. eg. Vickers would only have one provisional!

i like that,

with people that had technical infraction(disqualified from qualifying practice etc) not in the race

or noone locked in and everyone has to qualify to get in no provisionals or anything. top 43 get in

I wouldn't mind taking the top-25 from Friday Qualifying and having a mandatory 2nd round of qualifying Saturday morning for spots 26-40, with 3 provisionals...

does anyone but me think this is fair? i would rather then lock in the top 10 -20 and then have a 50 mile B feature to set the remainder of the field. this could be televised and offer the go home teams a small carrot to their sponsors. it would also create a lot of hype for nascar.
