noticed in the Spectator this morning, that retired mod driver Mark Shadwell has organized a reunion at the Ancaster Fairgrounds this Saturday at 1pm as the Fairgrounds have been sold for a housing development (a new fairgrounds is being built at Hwy 52 & Hwy 2). The track ran between 1951 and 1954 and was a sister track to Mohawk Park in Brantford and Bridgeport in the Kitchener area.
Mark's father drove at the track. He is expecting name drivers such as Jimmy Howard, Ken Andrews, Doug Syer, Bruce Van Dyke, Buffalo's Bill Rafter, Fred Stroud, Galvin Sweet, Forest Anderson, the Banyards, Lorne Overholster, and so on.
Track-Fairgrounds address is 625 Garner Road East. (this is old Hwy 53). Anyone going to the Cdn Sprint Car Nationals at Ohsweken might consider stopping by on the way to take a last look at a piece of Cdn racing history
