the age was 16 ,but with a waiver signed by a lawyer absolving the governing bodies of any liability, you could race at 13. i started at barrie when i was 13 racing enduros. i would sooner see a 13 year old racing with his family than playing video games hitting a bong.
anybody think that people under 16 should not be allowed to race? i think this is the way it needs to be so that the track and Nascar are not in conflict. besides it was 16 for years and years at Barrie Speedway. There are other series that allow younger ones to race at. If it means so much to race, then they should have to race there. I knew there was going to be issues with Nascar getting involved. They just have to iron some things out with the track to avoid things like this from ever happening again!

personally I think Mitch earned it and deserved it. Had the age been a problem then he should have been told earlier in the year, but having not told him anything is definately wrong I think. He paid his money to get a nascar drivers license. So they recognized him to be a driver when they sent him his license. They shouldn't have given a license to somebody then. Nascar should refund Mitch's license money. I think that if you need a license to race and you have to be 16 to be recognized, then Barrie Speedway should only allow people 16 years of age and over race at the speedway. This would solve a heck of a whole lot. I feel bad for Mitch, and I was very shocked that I was given that 3rd place award. If it didn't say "Steeve Melson" on it, I would definately give the award to Mitch irrregardless of whether Nascar recognizes him or not. But I doubt Mitch wants an award with my name on it! that's my 2 pennies on the issue.
