Posted by: mike32« on: December 13, 2006, 11:01:14 PM »funny, Joe's press release states (to paraphrase) that the drivers in the series were not Saturday night racers and their sponsors were province wide in scope. If he looked closely, most of the sponsors were still local, not provincial, and many teams were homeless Saturday night racers (ex Sauble, ex Sunset, ex Peterboro, etc) who did not have the budget to be travelling for top heavy purses. After the travel novelty wore off and the expenses rolled up rather quickly, many dropped out.
His refusal to acknowledge the potential of the crate engine was another nail in the coffin. Steelback's president appears to be spending his money paying ex jocks to play hockey with him (and using it for tv ads for his suds) and getting Ben Johnson to tout his energy drink. Instead of just sending out contracts again!
