We have some Raceway News that we'd like to share with you. Effective immediately the Laird Raceway Management Team welcomes Gerry Liscumb Jr. as the holder of a new management position: Director of Racing Operations.
Gerry will be in full control of everything that happens at Laird International Raceway from the time the gates open until they are closed,…. and beyond. He is charged with ensuring the race program runs smoothly and efficiently. Gerry's duties also include overseeing the rules, the officials, and the drivers and teams out at Laird.
Gerry comes to us as young blood with a great background in public relations and team management. Gerry holds a management position with the Soo Greyhounds hockey team. Many will recognize him as being the current "Voice of the Greyhounds" on the local radio station. Jerry has also been involved in racing locally for quite a few years and understands the issues involved in running a track. We believe this experience will assist Laird to grow and flourish.
Gerry will be taking a hands on approach to what happens on and around the track. At first the changes may be invisible to the fan, but eventually, as Gerry makes his changes, fans should see further improvements to the track operation and quality of the show.
Come on out and join us to welcome Gerry on Sunday July 3rd. Racing begins at 6. For those of you that enjoy having a cold one while watching the race, we'll have $2 beer available in the Beer Gardens for the day.
We'll have extended Laird Modified and Stock Four Features and our race program will be followed by an exciting Spin to Win Demolition Derby.
