Hocevar Wins Inaugural JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup Championship

Salem, IN. (August 27, 2018) – With the cancellation of the JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour Powered by JEGS event at Owosso Speedway on Saturday, 15 year old Carson Hocevar has officially won the inaugural JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup. Hocevar was not entered to compete at Owosso, he was competing with the ARCA Racing Series at Berlin Raceway on Saturday, in an event that had been rescheduled from an earlier rain out.

“It’s not the way I wanted to win the Michigan Cup Championship,” remarked Hocevar. “It would have been fun to have been able to race Brian for it at Owosso, I really like that track. KBR Development put together a good car throughout the Michigan Cup, although we didn’t have the best of luck in all of them, but we rebounded for a great weekend at Auto City. I want to say thanks to JAS Expediting Trucking for sponsoring the series and promoting the Michigan tracks!”

The JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup was a mini point series with the five races scheduled in Michigan for the JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour during the 2018 season. The program involved the season opening Dixie 100 at Birch Run Speedway, which was won by Brian Campbell, the Masters of the Pro’s 200 at Birch Run, which was won by Bubba Pollard, the Auto City Speedway event, which was won by Hocevar and the Berlin Raceway event which was won by Campbell.

The JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup also included a winner’s bonus for each of the events. Hocevar and Campbell each received a $500 bonus for their wins. Pollard received a $1000 bonus for his win in the Masters of the Pro’s 200.

Even with Campbell’s two wins, Hocevar came into Saturday night’s JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup Championship event with a seven point lead over Campbell. Campbell just needed to start the Owosso Speedway event to claim the Championship, the next closest driver entered for Saturday’s race was Mason Keller, who was 61 points behind, but Campbell never got the opportunity with the event being canceled prior to the pit gate opening because of weather.

Hocevar will officially be crowned the JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup Champion at the 2018 CRA Awards Banquet, which will take place at the Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Downtown at Union Station on Friday, January 11th. Hocevar will pick up a Championship Trophy and a check for $2,000 from Tony Freeland at JAS Expedited Trucking.

Campbell finishes second in the JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup standings. Since there was no winners bonus paid out for Saturday night’s cancelation, Campbell will pick up a $500 bonus for his second place finish in points at the 2018 CRA Awards Banquet.

Michael Clancy Jr. finished in third place in the JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup standings, 43 points behind Campbell. Rookie Mason Keller finished in fourth place, 18 points behind Clancy Jr. 2017 series Champion Jack Dossey III finished in fifth place, 14 points behind Keller. In all eight drivers competed in all four events that took place in the inaugural JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup.
