OK now does anyone think the crewchief needs to go.

Bad calls at the end of the race cost Gordon a shot at a win.

He didn't need to take 4 tires on the last pitstop. He was in on the last caution and no tires seem to be the right call to get burton the win. You hear on Gordon's radio he agreed with the crecheif about coming in on the caution before the last one but it didn't sound like he really ment what he said. He knew it was a bad call. Bad calls all season will cost Jeff big time and next year if he has the same crewchief don't bother going for the drive for 5 maybe call it we try to make the chase in 2009.

yeah it was the bad crew cheif call that put the car into the wall twice before lap 6. if it was not for the calls by the cheif and the work by the crew and a lot of luck the only thing gordon would of lead is the dnf list. time for jeffie to head to drivers school. jmnsho. not picking a fight evan but you put it out there.lol

I wasn't talking about the wall stuff. Pretty good he could get back up to the front after hitting the wall 2 times. the calls at the end were bad and you don't win races or a chase like that.

Not just the #24 has suffered from MIS CALLS during the later part of races this year , the #88 has lost a few good chances at a win as well and the #20 has had a few.

The other drivers you mentioned are doing something about it and Gordon's is doing nothing.

Maybe it is time for a change. I heard someone on TV guy interveiwing say Gordon and his Rainbow Warriors. The Warriors were many many years ago and the new flames need to be put out and get a new team together.

Maybe that as well. If this is what it is going to be like in 2009 get out of the car. Sorry to say it but it's true.

I'm by no means a Jeff Gordon fan, but to say he needs to get out of the car after a bad year is just asinine.   In fact... Let's go back 11 years, when people were saying the same about Dale Sr., he went out won the Daytona 500, as well as 5 other races from '99-2000, not to mention almost winning the championship in 2000.   So don't count out a driver because of 1 bad year.   However I do agree a crew chief change is in order.

Try a switch with Eury Jr for the last few races. Maybe Latarte will like it better when his driver isnt trying to grab his loadbolts ;D

Don't get me wrong I'm a Gordon fan and if they keep telling themself nothing is wrong he should get out. I tend to think it is the crewcheif that is the problem though. They know Jeff needs to be out front in clean air but it seems at the end of the race they make the wrong call to put him further back.

If he would have did a Gas & Go like Burton he would have been in victory lane.

Sometimes change is good, It hasn't been that good of a year by ANY of the Hedricks teams standards. Jimmy didnt really get going like he has in past years wich is scary.

He has a FOR LIFE contract to drive the #24 , so a driver change is unlikely. CREW CHIEF / CREW CHANGE might help and a year with no WINS might just hurry that up.

He has never had the WINLESS SLUMP like other drivers went through, looks good on them in some ways

Exactly. Gordon is sitting there, saying that things are good. His quote on NASCAR Raceday stated that, "Steve is the same guy that led us last year and that right there proves that he's good." He said something along the lines of that, plus the fact that they're gaining. Like you've all said, maybe it's time that Gordon tries somebody new. Maybe it'll change his view point.
