Proven Contender Falk Geared Up For Daytona
Virginia Driver Focused On UNOH Battle At The Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 9, 2013) — One of the most determined young drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series would like to make history when he opens his season Feb. 18 at Daytona International Speedway.

C.E. Falk III, 25, of Virginia Beach, Va., finished third nationally in the final 2012 point standings and will exercise his right to a guaranteed starting position in the inaugural UNOH Battle At The Beach. The top-10 competitors in the national standings earned locked-in spots for the historic event.

The UNOH Battle At The Beach races will take place on a .4-mile short-track oval located on the backstretch at “The World Center of Racing.” The two-day event begins Feb. 18 with a 150-lap NASCAR Late Model feature. The NASCAR K&N Pro Series and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tours take over the track for 150-lap features on Feb. 19. All divisions will utilize heat races to determine the starting lineups.

Falk is a three-time NASCAR Late Model track champion at Langley Speedway, a .4-mile paved oval in Hampton, Va. He’s looking forward to competing in one of the most prestigious events in NASCAR Late Model history.

“Everyone’s bringing their A-game to Daytona. Everyone’s going for the win. That makes it that much tougher,” Falk said.

Falk enters the UNOH Battle At The Beach with the Toyota Camry he drove to a single-season personal record of 16 wins in 2012.

“This car won at four different tracks last year, and we feel like it can run anywhere,” Falk said. “It has a good history. We’re pretty confident in it.”

Falk thinks he’ll quickly adapt to Daytona’s flat .4-mile oval.

“Langley Speedway is pretty much a flat track in its own right,” he said. “We’re definitely looking forward to getting to Daytona and getting going.”

Changes in Falk’s racing program for 2013 seem to be targeted at one goal – the Whelen All-American Series national championship.

When his NASCAR Home Track season begins, he’ll compete at Langley in his own car, as usual, on Saturdays. Reinforcement comes from car owner Bob Unczur, for whom Falk will compete at multiple tracks including Southern National Speedway in Kenly, N.C., Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va., Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Speedway and South Boston (Va.) Speedway.

“We’re going to work hard,” Falk said of his plans for the regular season. “We’re going to be ready to race anytime, anywhere, and we’ll go to win. There are no weekends off between March and the end of September.”

The heat races will be seeded by practice speeds. For the Whelen All-American Series race, a draw will determine the starting positions – one through four – for the heat race winners. If necessary, a last chance race is available to earn one of the positions in the 34-car field.

The three UNOH Battle At The Beach feature events over two days will be carried live on SPEED and MRN. Supplemental event coverage will be provided at www.nascarhometracks.com.
