Thorold, Ontario (April 20) – Darrell Lanigan led from lap 4 to 91 in the Commonwealth 100 at Virginia Motor Speedway but came just short of becoming the first repeat winner in 2010 for the World of Outlaw Late Models April 17th.
You don’t want to come up short either of saving some money when Brian’s Tire Repair, Turn 4 Collision and PineView Drywall proudly present the Series’ inaugural visit Thursday June 17th in partnership with Giant FM, Cotton Inc., IBEW Local 303 Niagara, Toolneeds, TV Cogeco, Modern Corporation and Auto FX Graphics.
Since the opener last February with the Winter Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida to the most recent event – eight different drivers have visited Victory Lane in the first eight events - defending Champion Josh Richards, Brady Smith, Lanigan, Austin Hubbard, Rick Eckert, Steve Francis, Billy Moyer and Chris Madden have all scored wins at tracks in 5 different states.
“Race fans surely have seen some thrilling events,” exclaims (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell, “as ours nears – time is running out on advance ticket sales for what is shaping up to be biggest event in our 59th year history.”
From now until May 1st – Adult Advanced Tickets are available at a $5 savings at $30 each while Children 5 to 14 years of age are $10 and $12 after the deadline.

Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series fans can also get advance tickets when they attend either of the first two events on the 2010 Schedule.
Baron Roofing and Siding presents the Spring Sizzler Saturday April 24th featuring the L. St. Amand Enterprises 358 Modifieds, Original Pizza Logs Sportsman and Hoosier Stocks in 50 lap Events.
Saturday May 1st – the Championship Chase for all 5 Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Divisions kicks off with 105.1 The River hosting the Night as the J&S Heating and Air Conditioning Modified Lites and Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinders join in with their first features of the new season.
During both events – Advance Tickets for the Extreme Thursday will be available. Race Fans may also wish to consider a 2010 Grandstand Season Pass which includes all events and if you reserve your seat – it’s yours for all events too!
“Our event is the 18th on their schedule,” relates Bicknell, “and by the time the Great Northern Tour pays a visit … who knows how many different winners there’ll be … but for sure you are going to want to have a ticket to see who our first winner is!”
“Being in one of the most famous agribusiness and tourist areas in the world,” boasts (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell, “who knows what new tradition our first winner will be presented with … sinking their teeth into a vat of just picked strawberries … or maybe a trip over the falls in a barrel … we’ll see!”
Joining the Extreme Thursday special event will be another round of the Duel of the Dirt Big 6 Series featuring one of the speedway’s most exciting divisions – the Hoosier Stocks.
With the Speedway Office now open for the season – race fans can visit during business hours Monday to Friday – even Saturdays prior to show time.
Fans following the 2010 World of Outlaws Late Model Series may wish to visit Merrittville Speedway and all that the surrounding Niagara Region has to offer.
