Evoy Collects a Pair of Podium Finishes; Looking for Just a Little More

Dylan Evoy has posted some very impressive numbers in recent weeks, dating back to late June, Evoy’s worst finish was a sixth place run at Brockville on the 31st of July.  In an 11 race stretch, Evoy has posted a streak of top five results, with that sixth place run being the only time he has been out of the top five since the calendar flipped to July.  A win at Brockville highlights these outstanding numbers back on July 17th.

While Evoy has been close on several occasions to another win at both Mohawk Raceway and Brockville Speedway, he has not yet been able to get back to victory lane, and for the 17 year old Evoy; second place starts to get a little old.  This past weekend, Evoy added yet another second place run to his season totals.

“In the end, second place is pretty good, but when we finish there every week, it can get a little frustrating.  Some nights, we are just as good as the 01 car, but just can’t get by.  We have had nights where we are making a run for the lead, and the caution comes out, and that slows our momentum.  At Mohawk, I think we have only been out of second place once in our last six races there, and that was our win”, explains Evoy.

Brockville has been a little bit different this year, as the competition, and the racing itself is arguably much tougher.  Evoy has had some strong finishes their as well in his Ogilvie’s Auto & Fleet Service, Fireball Performance Automatics, Nan’s Kitchen, RONA, Robotic & Process Automation, Subway, Linde, Unity Savings, RipNET, Charleston Lake Auto Service, Canadian Tire, Thousand Islands Concrete, Pennzoil and NGK Spark Plugs Bicknell car.  This past weekend, Evoy started 13th in the 25 lap Sportsman feature, and quickly made progress, moving up to tenth before they even completed a full lap.  Just ten laps in, Evoy had moved into the top five, and continued to work his way forward.  A lap 13 caution bunched the field, and by this point Evoy had taken over the 3rd spot.  On the ensuing restart, Evoy moved into second, and began pressuring the race leader.  At the checkered flag, Evoy had dropped one spot and finished the race with a solid third place run.

“The car was really good early in the race”, said Evoy.  “We had a great battle for second in the last few laps, the car just got a little too tight at the end”.  It was a good run for us, but we just need to be a little bit better in order get back to victory lane”.

This coming weekend will be exceptionally busy for the Evoy Racing team.  Thursday night, the Brockville Ontario Speedway is hosting a special race for the O’Reilly All Star Late Models, and the Sportsman class is on the schedule as well.  From there, Evoy will be back at the Mohawk Raceway in Hogansburg, New York, looking to finish just one position higher than his string of second place results.  Evoy will conclude the weekend with their normal Saturday night visit to the BOS.
