Hot Action Warms up a Chilly Saturday Night at Peterborough Speedway

Peterborough Speedway Media

A cold north wind blew through Central Ontario and brought a racing hurricane warning along with it, as the Hurricane Midgets joined the regular divisions for their first appearance of the year – Saturday, May 25th – at Peterborough Speedway.

Qualifying events got the evening rolling, as the Farm Bro Racing Team dominated the action in the Peterborough Hyundai Mini Stock division.  Chris Mulders claimed a pair of heat victories, with Ryan Babin and Ryan Oosterholt taking one each.  Bill O’Hara made it to victory lane in both Moi Parry Spring Service Renegade Truck heats, while Stu Robinson Jr. wheeled the #40 owned by Donny Beatty to a win in the Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car heat and former track champion Bryan Sudsbury, Jack Horner and Craig Graham shared the Vanguard Self Storage Late Model preliminary rounds.  Rob McCall and Jamie Bound were the best of the 23 Hurricane Midgets who signed-in pit side and won their qualifiers.

While the night’s opening rounds would showcase the equipment, every driver, team, sponsor and fan wanted to see their car in Dart Heating and Air Conditioning Victory Lane after their respective division’s main event.  Ryan Babin claimed his first win of the year in the Peterborough Hyundai Mini Stock feature, with Bill O’Hara holding off a late challenge from former track champion Tyler Junkin to capture the Moi Parry Spring Service Renegade Truck feature.  The Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car ‘A’ main belonged to Stu Robinson Jr., while Craig Graham parked his #98 Chevrolet in the winner’s circle after the Vanguard Self Storage Late Model headline event.  Jamie Bound picked-up his second major event win of the season in the Hurricane Midget feature.
