from St. Catharines, Ontario was victorious for round four of the 2014
Southern Ontario Sprints (SOS) Tour on Zanchin Truck and Trailer Night
at the New Humberstone Speedway on Father’s Day Sunday.
“The Real Deal” Chris Steele and John Burbridge led the Southern Ontario
Sprints to the green flag for their 20 lap A-Main with Steele showing
the way. Scott Sherk spun in turn one to bring out the races first
caution. On the restart, Steele would show the way with Charlie
Sandercock moving into second. Burbridge would race in third and was
followed by Sean Sliter and Cory Turner in the top five.
The leaders would hit lap traffic by lap seven and Steele would still
lead Sandercock at the races cross flags. Sandercock would take over the
lead on lap 11. Sandercock’s great run would come to an end on lap 17
after losing the right rear tire. The locking nut in the rear end came
out, ending Sandercock’s night. The caution would come back out
immediately following the restart as front row sitter John Burbridge
spun in the apex of turn one. On the restart, Cory Turner moved into
second and Glen Styres went around four cars to move into third. Styres
moved into second on the last lap but it wasn’t enough as Chris Steele
picked up the win. Styres in second and was followed by Brad Malloy,
Mitch Brown and Cory Turner completed the top five.
“I would love to keep this going, we have had a great start to 2014”
stated an elated Steele in victory lane. . “It is nice to win at a track
that I am very familiar with” Steele continued.
