VARNEY MOTOR SPEEDWAY
 ENDURO RULES

1.   Enduro is open to any private passenger vehicle, maximum 3.4 lt engine.  No performance engines,  including HO and  quad overhead cam engines. Small pickups are included but no minivans. Remember, the smaller the engine, the less gas you will burn.
2.   Be sure that you leave the windshield wipers working as we will be racing rain or shine.
3.    A full interior cage is recommended however, see the attached diagram for the minimum requirements.  All joints must be properly welded. Minimum tube size is 1 ½”,95 wall.
4.   All roll bars must have some kind of padding on them to prevent injury.   Pool noodles work great.  You should probably put padding on anything  in the interior that you can hit your head, arms or legs on.
5.   NO bars outside the front or rear fire walls.
6.   A fuel cell is recommended.  If a cell is not used, the stock fuel tank must be securely fastened – no rusty/weak straps, wire or duct tape.  If the tank is moved to the trunk, it must be as far forward as possible and a solid firewall installed between it and the driver compartment.  If the tank is left under the trunk(rear of the axle), a metal plate must be securely installed under the tank.
7.   There will be ZERO tolerance for fuel leaks. Make sure the fuel system is in good shape.  This will be checked closely.
8.   A RED kill switch for the fuel pump must be installed on the roof above the drivers head. If your not sure how, ask your mechanic.
9.   NO modifications (other than the fuel tank and the battery) will be allowed.  If your buddy thinks he can make some changes to make the car faster, than you better bring your buddy with you so he can change it back or you will not be allowed to race.

13.   Any street legal P rated tires are allowed with any factory rim. Larger wheel nuts are a safety item and can be used.  Stock studs to remain. No broken studs.
14.   If the battery is moved to the interior of the car, it must be securely mounted in spill proof container.  Regardless of the location, the battery must be securely mounted.
15.   For your safety, make sure that all air conditioning refrigerant is pumped clear.  We will be checking.
16.   Antifreeze must be removed from the rad.
17.   All flammable material (upholstery, carpet)  must be removed, excluding the dash and the drivers seat.  NO gutting, if it doesn't burn it stays in the car.  It is recommended that a race seat of some kind be used (fibreglass, aluminum) but the factory seat will be fine if that is all you have.  No low back seats – there must be  head support.  The seat must be securely bolted and braced at the rear.
18.   All holes to the interior must be covered with metal.
19.    Pull the fuses for any unused systems (signals, brake lights, power seats etc) but do not touch the dash wiring – the car would probably not run again.   If you like tunes, leave the radio in.

23.   Stock mirrors will be allowed, rear view and side mirrors.
24.   A full exhaust system is not required, but if it is there, have it properly secured.  The exhaust must exit behind the driver and outside the car.

GENERAL RULES
1.   Age restriction – If the driver is under 16 years of age, a parent or guardian must sign the registration and release to accept responsibility.

3.   NO DRUGS OR BOOZE – If you are found with drugs or booze, you and your car will be removed from the pits.
4.   CONDUCT – use your head.  This is to be for fun. If you want to loose your temper, pick fights or complain, you know where the exit is.  Maybe you should call 411, maybe Emily can help you. Seriously, if there is a real problem come and talk to us.  We want everyone to have fun and to want to do this again.  Keep it slow in the pits. Being an idiot with people around will only cause you problems and someone could get hurt.
5.   Any injuries must be reported to the pit shack right away.
6.   The track will be set up to keep the speeds down.  Obstacles or other methods will be used to keep the race safe.
7.   We will not be using a tow truck unless absolutely necessary.  If your car breaks down/flat tire and can be pushed off to the pits we will make every attempt to do this safely.
8.   The race will be stopped for a blockage or if someone is in an unsafe position / emergency situation.    If your car is disabled, be prepared to stay in your car until there is a red flag.
9.   If there is a RED flag on the track you are to stop your car as quickly and safely as possible. There will be several people around the track with a flag so there will be no excuse not to see it.
10.   Drivers Meeting – there will be a MANDATORY drivers meeting prior to the race in the infield.  We will be explaining the track configuration, the penalty box etc.
34.   Pre-registration can be done ( form available on website) to reserve your number.  Print the form off the website and  email it  to sheilaeccles@hotmail.com or fax to Sheila at         519-369-6280.  There will be forms available at the track also.
35.   Pit space will be on a first come first serve basis.
36.   50% of the registration fee will be paid back to the top 10 cars.
37.   Admission of $100 for the car, driver and two crew members.  Any other crew will be charged at regular pit admission. Scorers that pay only the grandstand admission will not have access to the pits until after the race.
38.    Two scorers will be required.  You must bring your own scorers.
39.   Tech will start at 10;00am with racing starting at 2;00. The race will be 3 hrs in length.
40.   ONE OF THE TOP TEN CARS WILL BE CLAIMED FOR $800 AT THE END OF THE RACE,MINUS ANY SAFETY EQUIPMENT.  THE CAR WILL THEN BE AUCTIONED OFF AND AVAILABLE TO ANY DRIVER OR FAN.  BE PREPARED TO GIVE UP YOUR CAR.

Our intention is to bring back true enduro racing. STOCK, SIMPLE, AFFORDALBE

Our second Enduro is set for Varney Sept 18th at 2:00.  The first one was a blast!!!  With a few more cars it will be even better.  Our apologizes for not getting this out sooner, but there are three companies offering bare bone cages for those not really sure how to put one in.
Modfather Performance - Hawkstone - 705-487-1666
CSC Racing - Newmarket - 905-954-0520
McColl Racing Enterprises - London - 1-800-423-3407
We would appreciate hearing from anybody local that could bend the necessary bars for people and we will put you info on the website. We had problems last time with the transponders, so every driver MUST bring at least one scorer while we get this issue figured out. We can't rely on them at this point but we are experimenting to find out what it is that is causing us the interminent problems.
Even if you don't have a car, come up and check it out. Varney can be a challenge to get around at the best of times and with the little added features, it is quite challenging.
