Brun wins Mini Stock Event - Sportsman and Street Stocks Rained Out

Shediac,  NB - With its best car count this season sitting in the pits and after some highly competitive and entertaining racing on Atlantic Canada's fastest stock car oval, CENTRE for Speed was forced to postpone the 2nd MetalCore Maritime Super Series of Racing event here tonight after rain and thunder showers caused several rain delays.

Battling multiple showers the speedway completed a portion of the nights card including the heats in all divisions and the Mini Stock features.  Emmet Donohue (#28) of PEI won the Street Stock heat while Michel Brun of Grand Barachois won the Mini Heat and Feature. Sportsman heats saw Bert "The Intimidator" Cormier  (# 3) of Bouctouche carry his new, aggressive, racing style in his #3 machince into the victory circle for the third time this season and Cal Hatfield (# 11) of  Quispamsis gun down the competition in another close heat to continue his success at the speedway.  "This was tough one to call.  We had cars from throughout PEI, some from Nova Scotia, and as far away as Bathurst NB for this one so we wanted to get it in.  It just wasn't in the cards." said CFS GM Tim Wile. Despite the wet conditions and some racing "in the rain" the event ran in true CFS fashion with just 2 cautions up to the calling of the event.

A reschedule date and format will be announced later this week.  The speedway will now take a 2 week break.   The next event will be the MIRA Foundation "Blind Race" for charity with blindfolded celebrity and non celebrity as well as blind drivers plus racing in all three CFS divisions.  The event will be on July 28th at 7 PM.  Events previously scheduled for July 15th have been cancelled.
